So this happened

That's looking really good! I wish I had the budget for pavers when I did my deck. When we redo it in 17 years, I'll likely do pavers. Although I'm cheap, so it may just be concrete again.

10 years ago it was the same price for us so we went with pavers in the $13 a foot range. I was expecting double that this time and didn't even price out concrete when I heard $16 a foot for the pavers.

*disclaimer it had to be a certain pattern of block and only a couple color choices to stay on the cheap side. But it looks plenty fancy to us.

My concrete was only like $7/sq ft. No way could I have gotten pavers for that. Although admittedly, I didn't price them so I can only say with about 50% certainty.

Sorry folks, visible progress ground to a halt. All them cuts take time, but we're getting there. I caught the patio guy when I got home from work and we hatched a plan for fixing the yard. He's going to reshape the fill / backfill area to make it more uniform. He is guessing I'll need about 30 yards of topsoil and then I'll trench my sprinkler lines and seed.

Nice! That’s starting to look respectable! Now you just need to plant some oak trees…

I feel your wait for all this is really paying off!
It was a wait, for sure, and a taxing one at that. I took the semi-inground out May 3rd 2021 and we've been looking out at a tore up yard since.

Literally 2 or 3 meals a day, in our face. It's looking a tad improved this week. Getting rid of the dirt blowing around will be the cherry on top.

SCORE!!! That is going to help the yard out a LOT!!

LOVE how you are doing the highlight brick around everything like that! That looks so sharp!

Why don't they make "pretty" square skimmer covers? I found some pretty round ones but no square ones. Do you think they could/would make a cover out of the stone?

AND my back. :ROFLMAO: My buddies tractor sucked at digging / backblading so I'll need patio guy and his bobcat to smooth it all out.

I'm sure they would, but the stones are heavier than I want to be messing with all the time. I prefer popping the plastic ones off with a finger.

i totally get you on the sink/dinner view. I had to stare at my old pool all winter laughing at me. Now it’s still torn up until we pass electrical and the old deck is looking olllllld.

I really like the style you chose. All class Glad to see it coming together! You deserve it for all the help you dish out everyday!

Looking good my dude. This may be a stupid question, but what are those silver handles on the right side of the pool? The base of a diving board, handles if you have giants in the pool, something else?

Does this window open to yell out when kids pretend not to hear you
It does. But mine are old enough that I use their ignoring me to my advantage. If anything I'll be mouthing that the window is stuck and they'll just have to figure it out themselves. :ROFLMAO:

You must have missed the diving board chapters. It started by requiring me to get a certain sized pool to adhere to the required slope angle. Anywho, GC was an asshat and PB finally relented that I could keep the correct slope angle and just move the whole thing. Like ------\__/ to --\_____/ Then they dug me more pool and fired GC.

That was only the start of the diving board saga. The board goes on as soon as they sand the patio cracks.

@Newdude does his daily pushups on them. And other gymnastics training as though he will compete in an Olympics someday.

And then he uses the handles to rotate the pool to keep it in the sun for his solar heating.
