Those screws look like they will be corroded off in a week or two.

I see them all the time at work at various levels of buried and they hold up fine, even if there are better versions out there.
The screws need to be noncorrosive like stainless steel or copper.

Nice build, thanks for the deets!That's why I'm thinking a layered defense. Yard, then a 4 ft(?) Mulch barrier, then a 5 ft pavers with rocks barrier, then the pool. Grass clippings will be trapped by the mulch, the mulch will occasionally enter the first foot of the patio area but get caught in the rocks between the stepping stones and the pool stays pretty clear. I can stand at the pool and blow anything encroaching, back to where it belongs when the need arises.

I specifically made the pool a few inches higher so it will slope down on all sides away from it. Doing that at the old place kept the mulch around the patio where it belonged 'downhill'. Mowing got some grass in the much but it didn't get to the pool.
We watched our existing brick patio get overrun by ants since we moved in and it's all out of whack now. If we go with bricks or pavers around the pool it's only a matter of time until they are all sinking and all that sand gets blown into the pool. It was a never ending battle at the old place and I had several handfuls of sand a week to vac out.
I'm not sure how we will like a cement patio cracking over the years, need to get some quotes to talk to the cement pros. Last time they were all against it here but would install one if I wanted them too. We love stamped concrete but took their advice last time.
That leaves me with the stepping stone idea which just so happens to be the most affordable.
The more I think about it, the more my head hurts.
First year pool owner here and I thought for sure I was going to have to live with some sort of ants as every pool I've seen has at least the little black ants running around. Found a solution. 1 part borax to 15 parts sugar and a little water to mix it. Soak a couple cotton balls in the solution and put it in the middle of ant activity. The love the stuff and tomorrow they will be gone. So fortunate to have found this as I live in an area ruled by a variety of ants.

Yours look like regular zinc plated steel.
Stainless has a distinctly different look from zinc plated.

$7.62 @ Home Depot. Mine is out of them. Amazon delivery needs a week and concrete is scheduled in 6 days. Will wait and see how the responses are and hit up the electrical supply house if need be.

All you need are the stainless screws.
You also need to replace the short screw.
Or, just go with the original plan.
Maybe tack weld the copper to the stainless in a few places to keep it secure.

What’s amazing is that they know that you are going to call them out on anything that’s not right and they still do dumb stuff like this.

I'll go all of the above. Nobody anywhere seems to care anymore.
The Patio guy wanted $1000 to remove the old 20X30 brick patio. I could remove the patio myself in a day and I don't make $1000 a day so I've been chipping away at it with my Lawnmower cart. I have so far done 13 trips of 200 bricks and have 2 or three loads left. I will repurpose them as a mulch border inside the fence line.
I didn't want to remove too close to the house too early or else the dogs would be dragging the under the patio sand/mud in the house. Some lady a few blocks over was throwing out an area rug on Friday and BOOM!!!! Problem solved. I made a corridor so they have to wipe their feet on the way in.
I am going to rent a trencher to redo the half the backyard sprinklers that got cut but I needed to replace my feed pipe to the control box before the patio went in, or I'd be going the long way around the pool. I'm not renting a trencher twice so I was the machine today. Lil Buddy cheered me on until he ran out of steam and found a pillow. He's such a good helper.
All sealed up and I'll get a couple zones back tomorrow.
Digging under the old patio was about as fun as you'd imagine. I busted out the gas auger and punched as many holes fit across, then only needed to remove loose dirt knee deep, which was still no fun, but better. I bought a cheapo auger at Lowes for just under $300 figuring I'd return it being junk, but it's amazing so I kept it. I've dug more plants/bushes than I can count with it and today was my second trench. There are a couple of easy dig areas on my property but 80% of it is rough. I waltz right out to the shed and grab the auger everytime.

OMG watching that vid gave me the cold sweats! From the improperly tensioned chain to the certain kickback inducing design, the only way I would even consider that death trap is with the cart attachment. That said, I like my head attached to my body way too much to try that thing!
