Screenlogic Connect does not work on Android or iPhone, works on laptop

Welcome to TFP.

What do you get when you try to connect using a phone app?

On Android, I get the screen below on remote.

On local it lets me log in and seems to think it's connected but is not actually connected. It says "we have detected you don't use a password" and then requires me to enter a new password

On iPhone, it immediately tries to login to local before I can do anything but never actually logs in.

I just updated my password, but it made no difference.

614,

Just to be clear.. Does your PC actually control things?

Try this... Turn on a pool light using your PC.. Does the PC show the light as on?

Go outside and see if the light is actually on. If it is, then using the buttons on the EasyTouch, turn off the light.

Does ScreenLogic now show the light off???

I'm just trying to make sure the wireless links are working..

Thanks,

Jim R.

614,

So that eliminates the wireless links, the protocol adapter, as well as the EasyTouch itself.

I'd like to say I know what the problem is, but mine has just always worked, so I have no troubleshooting experience.

I guess you could try deleting the app and reloading it.

Also I have two apps... ScreenLogic and SLconfig. You can try SLconfig and see if that works for you.

I've see a couple of threads on moving the Protocol adapter away from your WiFi router..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks. I've been through a bunch of the threads and haven't found a solution. Deleted and reinstalled the apps a few times. It's not a big deal as long as the computer still works but it wouldn't hurt to be able to use the phone. Pretty weird

VPN will block local access but should not bother remote. Try turning off the vpn on the phone.

614,

When using your phone, to use "Local" your WiFi must be on.. When using "Remote" you are using the phone cell data..

For my phone to work remote, I have to...

1. Open ScreenLogic and make sure the green line shows up under remote.
2. Select Previous Connections and then "Pentair: FC-XX-XX This populates the system name just under the word "remote"
3. Then select Connect
For me, this instantly connects to the EasyTouch.

Try removing the space between the Pentair: and XX-XX-XX

I just want to make sure you have set your "Remote Access Password" using box in the page below..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I'm doing the same steps. There's nowhere to up a space between pentair and the system name, just three 2-digit fields.

Sometimes it seems to login but has no control, other times it says to check Internet connection and password. I tried again on the iPhone and I got "ERROR: cannot connect. Error #60 in connect(): A transmission timeout occurs during a read attempt on a..."

I previously posted here
about how screenlogic only worked on one laptop and never on mobile.

Well l splashed a bunch of hot tub water onto the laptop and it seems to be done for. I tried to get screenlogic working on another computer, an ipad, an iphone, and an android phone to no avail. The pentair tech support line said that the protocol adapter is showing as connected for a few seconds, then disconnected for a few seconds. He suggested it may be an issue with my internet provider (firewall, etc.) but the ISP said that there is nothing that should be stopping the connection (and considering the now-dead laptop was working fine as of three days ago, that would seem to make sense).

I've power cycled everything, done the triple reset button thing, updated the firmware on the protocol adapter, reinstalled the software, confirmed my network is 2.4 gHz, confirmed all the lights that should be on are on, etc.

Please let me know if these symptoms sound familiar to anyone or if anyone has any suggestions. Maybe just a busted protocol adapter?

Thanks!

Let’s go back to your prior thread and try and work the problem.

Do you have a very simple Pentair password with no special characters? Just letters and numbers. The simpler the better.

The previous password had hyphens. I tried to change it to an all lowercase word. But I'm not sure that it actually stuck because I could never get the system working on remote (I've tried the old password and the new password) and I can't get into the configuration window. Now it doesn't work on local either, so it seems like it shouldn't be a password issue

Lots of things shouldn’t be but are.

Special characters in passwords and email logins are a known problem with Pentair. And their systems allow them in some places and then croak on them in other places.

Have you tried starting over? Register your panel with a new simple email and password?

Checking back in with the resolution. I got a new protocol adapter and (almost) everything seems to be working. So I guess the brick I had was just a dud.

The new problem is I can't get Screenlogic or Easy touch to control the pump speed

624,

ScreenLogic just tells the EasyTouch what to do, so this is not a ScreenLogic issue..

Tell us what specific pump you have, and if it is connected to the EasyTouch with a com cable.

Tell us if the display on the pump shows "Display Not Active" or something else..

For the pump to run several things have to happen..

You have to be in Auto
You have to have a Circuit on (Usually the Pool Circuit)
You have to have a pump speed assigned to the Circuit that is on.
You have to have the correct pump type selected.

Thanks,

Jim R.
