I am interested in getting a robotic cleaner/vacuum.
I plan on 3-4 times a week and will put it in, run it, and remove it.
I want floor, wall, waterline/tile cleaned and cleaned well. I will still brush 3-4 times a week as well.
Recommendations?
Thank you,
Jon

Jon,

I like the Dolphin S200 "Style" of robot. There are several of them each made for a different customer base. They have different names and colors but basically the same machine,

I have two S200s and and Warrior SE... I got them from Marina Pool and Spa and it is where I will get my next one.

Just like your SWCG will only last 5 to 7 years before you will have to replace it, a robot is in the same "consumable" category. While they can be fixed the cost is almost the same as buying a new one,

The S200 robots do not come with a caddy nor do they have any bells and whistles. No Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth... They just clean your pool.

I suggest that you call Marina and see what they have to say. You have to call, because they can't sell over the Internet, but if you call they can consider you a "local" customer.

Keep in mind that our supply logistics issues have made almost all pool equipment hard to come by.

Maytronics, Aiper and Aquabot are the main companies. Do you have a suction or pressure side cleaner at present?

I just have the vacuum that attaches o the skimmer

Thanks Jim but I live in SW Florida!
I’m in Texas. Called them couple weeks ago based on recommendations here and on Reddit, exceptional experience, quick/free ship and saved a bunch of money. As Jim said you do need to call them on the telephone.

I got the Maytronics Dolphin Active 20. I love it!

Their prices are solid though you do give up local repair, that said I would only consider a local pool store if they are exceptional and those are rare. I also bought the s200 style in a pentair prowler 920. Thing has been excellent. I think they are the best for the money in that style since they come with the ultra fine filter in the box instead of having to buy it separate. I haven't brushed the pool once since buying it and it is nice having that time back each day.

So - all good information!
From what I have researched - it’s kind of what you want as far cleaning and high tech scheduling and control - as always- the more you want - the more you pay.
One thing I also noticed is that they last around 5 years or so regardless of how much you pay - correct?

Jon,

You are correct!

My last Dolphin cleaner, before the S200 units, lasted 7 years. I would say the average is 5, so some less and some more.

That robot was a Dolphin Premier, it came with a caddy and remote control. I used the remote, the first day I had it, and never saw reason to use it again in 7 years. It came with a caddy, which I also found useless. The caddy is useful for people that want to put their robot away each time they use it. In my case I have an out of the way spot on my deck, so no need at all for the caddy.

The Premier cost almost twice as much as my S200 and was only half as good.

Thanks,

Jim R.

A side note few folks have had issues and marina has troubleshot over the phone and just shipped them a part VS having to box it up and ship it off. So don’t worry too much regarding that side. Plus they are pretty solid
But theS200 will clean your walls pretty good, I still brush off the steps and a few corners but if it died tomorrow I wouldn’t replace it in a second.

Be sure to make a note of the serial number as others had difficulty finding it when they needed it for warranty - I think Marina puts it on the sales receipt.

Does Marina pay the shipping on warranty repairs? Trying to decide between Marina and Amazon+extra 3 year warranty.

I never could get a response from Marina by phone or email for my warranty repair. Pentair finally just sent me a new motor assembly and o replaced it myself.

T,

Have you ever heard of anyone actually getting this "extra 3-year warranty" for a robot?

My gut says that it will never be valid.

Thanks,

Jim R.
Marina is hard to get a hold of, think it’s a small company but they are a Maytronics authorized reseller. Done know how maytronics is if you buy from a seller on Amazon.

But Amazon will definitely make it right if they don’t.

The robots are getting more popular so I am sure more sellers will pop up.

Just verify the model, some have a shorter cord.

That's why I'm asking. From what I've heard, if they can't fix it, they give you an Amazon card for the full amount. Seems like a no Brainer for $60, but if it's anything like a house warranty, not worth it. Here's info on it. Reviews seem very positive.

Look and see if they require you to ship it and wait weeks or Months for it back.

But does sounds like a decent deal.
