We just opened our inground pool for the first time- bought our home late last Summer. There is a significant amount of organic staining on the sides and bottom of the pool. Other than draining and acid washing the pool, what recommendations do you have for removing the stain and brightening the concrete?

Welcome to TFP! Organic staining can generally be lightened (and hopefully removed) with an elevated chlorine level and consistant brushing over time. Not all at once of course, but if you look at our FC/CYA Levels, you can see that based on your current CYA level (stabilizer), how high you can go with your FC. If you don't have a TF-100 (link below) or Taylor K-2006C test kit, you won't be able to test FC at those levels. Having one of those kits is a must for any pool owner.

If you still have any algae in the pool, use one of those test kits to perform a SLAM Process. Please see our ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry and let us know if you have any questions. :swim:
