To make a recommendation on a pump, we need to know the voltage you have wired now, as that pump can be wired with either 115v or 230v.

The Waterway defender VSPs, are a good option. The 165 can use either 115v or 230v. The 270 is 230v only. 165 is about 1100$, the 270 is 1300$. If you have 230v, get the 270.

Is it DIY? Depends on your skills...it is DIY for me, don't know your electrical or PVC skills.
