Proper Water Chemistry Readings

How are you testing? Can you put that and how you are chlorinating in your signature?

See [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]. Your readings above your FC is on the low side of target.

But - each pool is unique when it comes to the TA - pH relationship. Also depends on your fill water chemistry.

Your climate will have significant evaporation so that can come into play.

Take care.

jj,

My guess is that you are using 3" tablets in an in-line dispenser to Chlorinate your pool. I say this because your CYA is 60 and this is a relatively new pool.

If you look at the FC to CYA chart, that Marty provided above, a CYA level of 60 is as high as we recommend in a non-saltwater pool. The problem with those tablets is that they continually add CYA to your pool whether you need CYA or not.

In the same chart you will also see that with a CYA of 60 your very minimum FC level is 5 ppm and you really should be at about 8...

This time a year this is not much of an issue, as the cooler water means not much algae growth. But come summer, an FC this low will open you up for an algae attack.

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.
