It usually holds better as time goes by as there is less to kill day over day. But occasionally there is a small bump in the road so don’t get discouraged if goes the wrong direction for a test or five. It is still progress when that happens.Holding a little more chlorine every night
The pool has been cloudy but blue for the last couple of days. Still has some white foamy stuff. Is this still part of the normal process. I'm anxious to use the pool, lol.
Yes. Cloudy / milky sits at the fine line between mostly and all dead algae. Then it gets more hazy like as you slowly filter the dead stuffs out.
The foam points to still killing crud, providing your bleach is additive free and no polymers, scents, thickeners (splashless), chloromax technologies, etc.

If you can see the bottom of the pool & you are between min & slam level for your cya it’s ok to swim (although it might not be appealing).
Keep hitting it hard replenishing fc multiple times a day along with brushing or vacuuming every day.
Also be sure to backwash when filter pressure rises 25% over normal pressure. You’re mostly only logging your bleach additions & not your fc results in poolmath so I can’t tell how much fc you’re losing, especially overnight.
You also may want to try a deep clean of your sand filter -especially if you added any pool store concoctions before u found TFP.

I don't know if I can log my FC without the premium subscription, which I don't have. I have been deleting my full morning tests from the day before in order to add the current days readings. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I'll be sure to read over that article. I'm sure it needs to be backwashed because we were adding all kinds of stuff from the pool store.
Also, my CYA had been at 40 for multiple days in a row, then yesterday it was 50 and today it was 30. Is that most likely tester error? Was just surprised at the fluctuation.
There are so many factors from lighting to how fast you squirt the mix..... slow it down tomorrow and do a best out of 5. Reuse the mix and just pour back and forth until you are happy you got it right.

When i saw u had logs I assumed you had the subscription. I didn’t know it would record more than 1 log of any kind w/out a subscription

Also no need to test cya every day - it doesn’t change much unless u add stabilizer/stabilzed chlorine or exchange water
That's good to know. I've been doing it to make sure I've got the right FC for the SLAM. Is it the same with TA? Because my numbers have been consistent. Which just adds more layers of confirmation of how much BS the pool store tests are.
*agree with @Mdragger88 there is usually no need to test CYA frequently. I was only suggesting you retest to clear the current confusion once and for all.
Which brings up a great point, THANKS. Any time you get a wonky result, or something seems off, slow down your test. We are all so busy and it's super easy to become used to racing through the testing. So before you hit any alarm buttons, take a breath and redo the test nice and slow with perfect drops/squirts/lighting etc.

Attempting a deep clean and pretty sure i just made a big mistake. I can't upload a picture, but the whole middle part came out

Do u have a shop vac?
drain the water out by removing the plug at the bottom (parts 9& 10).
Isolate the sand filter from the pool so u don’t drain the pool. (Hopefully u did this before u began)
Then u can suck the sand out w/ a shop vac & put it in buckets, inspect the laterals (7)& stand pipe (6), rinse them & reinstall, cover the top of the stand pipe with tape to prevent sand from going down it, reinstall drain plug & gasket, fill filter 1/2 way with water (this will prevent the sand from damaging the laterals), slowly pour sand back in (cleaned or new) making sure to keep standpipe centered in the filter. There is an apparatus called a sand shield to assist w/this. Hopefully u still have it.
Lots of filters have a line on the stand pipe or the vessel that indicates how high the sand should be or an amount of lbs. (generally it’s about 1/2 to 3/4 full).
Those are the basics.
Here’s the manual for yours, hopefully it will help w/ reassembly.

On the plus side it needed the deep clean. There was a lot of algae and it smelled like lake water when I was rinsing.

This is DEFINITELY a once a year cleaning. When I put it back together I discovered I didn't do anything wrong. When you take it apart the stand pipe comes out with the top part (the whole upper part of the diagram in an above post) and you have to pull the stand pipe out to put it back in. Now I know, lol.

Did sand get down in there? I just worry it would clog the laterals. Or Perhaps you may just get some sand in the pool
