I've always loved your back yard since putting the pool in. It's beautiful!
 
Thanks all. The storm was a piece of the TS Bill remnants. Later that night as the main line of boomers rolled through we watched Twister with the kids. Cheesy movie but I really like it!
I think it's great how many cool pictures get taken these days because everyone has a camera with them all the time. These were both taken with my phone too, though I also enjoy DSLR photography.
 
Thanks Janny. Cleaned my cartridges and salt cell today to keep the water sparkly.

Just checking in to make sure you know that the Bmore pool and Italian Villa Estate is first stop on Suz's national TFP pool tour. Be prepared; by then the touring troupe should be quite large! :whoot:

Here is a seating wall that blocks off a 2'+ dropoff at the back of the raised deck.

And here is a multipurpose table that is really a way to hide and protect an electrical outlet sticking up out of the decking. Originally the outlet was to be where a post from the pavilion would be but we eliminated the two center posts in the design. On another thread people were talking about how to conceal/shield an electrical outlet and that got me thinking. It was really just like playing with Legos. I started placing them and rearranging them until something useful and not ugly came about. Wife gave the thumbs up so now I'll glue them down and together.

This is what we need around our deck. It has a drop off. They scooped dirt around it but...it makes too much of a slope. How did you do that? Did you use any mortar?

For the wall/bench it's just gravity holding it together at this point though I will glue it all together with construction adhesive for landscape block which comes in a caulk tube. The table with the speaker is glued already. I wanted to live with the wall a while longer to make sure it made us happy. It does. Now I just need an hour to do it. It is also glued to the deck surface so it will be 100 solid/connected.
 
It was great timing for us. Right from completion to a full swim season year one. Best of luck.
 
I was just checking your winter cover selection and closing procedure (page 6 and 7). Would you add MA again to lower PH during the winter? Are you happy with the mesh cover? Did you need to drain much water from the pool during the winter? How was the pool on opening?
 
No I would not add MA during the winter. I think I created a rough section of plaster by doing it and not mixing it well. I don't think it's very critical then. I ended up using pumice stone around that band in the pool this summer to smith out that section.

I'd have no problem adding FC if I was letting it get warm before opening.

Drained from one to three times during the winters as I recall. Each spring water was very clear with lots of worms and a handful of leaves.

I don't close until later October.

Very happy with our Merlin Smartmesh cover.
 
Thanks Sheree! The basketball court gets a lot of use since we don't have to worry about cars being in the way. That was a project which snowballed for sure.
 
Have any plans on opening soon? We had a pretty mild winter. I'm thinking of pulling my cover in a couple weeks.
