Pool Build - Baltimore

Thank you, it's been a labor of love. I love working on projects. Now we just need to focus on low cost ones! Like an equipment pavilion (small roof) to match the shade pavilion to provide shade for the pool mechanicals.

I do mow it but at an acre it's not bad at all and the various outdoor projects have decreased the mowing time over the years. That and our oldest sons is now mowing some. But I like mowing too. The local lots are 1-3 acres so things are nicely spaced out. Some neighbors do hire out the job.

Your project looks great!

I have some questions about your fence. What brand is the black mesh that helps make up your fence? The fence boards are round in the middle and then square when it plugs in to the fence post? Any info on your fence would be appreciated...it looks great!

Thanks!
Matt

Thanks Matt. I don't have the manufacturer of the metal mesh fence because I bought it through a fence company that also sells to DIYers. They were Frederick Fence Co in Maryland if you wanted to call them. However I did just look it up online and came up with a manufacturer that sells the exact product as a reference. It's a 1"x2" Black PVC coated welded wire. http://www.rti-fence.com/1-x-2-mesh-pvc-coated-welded-wire/ I believe the weight of 127 lbs for the 4' roll because they were a bear to move around, especially trying to unroll them.

On the split rails, they are from Lowe's and are essentially rough cut treated 4x4's that have the ends wedge cut to fit into the posts. http://www.lowes.com/pd_39835-432-SRAIL5T25N_0__?productId=3160307

If using split rail where you have any curves or short sections, you will want to be handy with a chain saw to re-shape the ends of the rails as necessary to fit. I felt like my Husqvarna was attached to my hip for that process. I stained them all ahead of time and then re-stained the pieces I cut as I installed them.

Our newest addition to the pool area...

Dunn Rite Splash & Slam hoop. It's heavy duty alright - and better be for the price. Went with the stainless steel vinyl coated rim for extra longevity with our salt water. Weighs about 500 lbs filled. BTW - He made the alley-oop.

Love love love it!

Is that a Frontgate float? I love them too, The pool and pavilion are amazing, great job.

Ok, just kill me now, so I can go to Heaven and live in beautiful countryside like this!!!! Breathtaking! Fabulous job with your build, taking advantage of the surroundings. Well done, but I don't need to tell you that. Awesome!!!! Thanks for sharing. Suz.

Thank you'ns (as my Grandpa used to say). The float is the same as the Frontgate thick float but at a BJ's price of $80 two years ago. They are great.

Here are a few creations I made using landscape block from Lowe's that I like to use. The blocks are what I made several walls and pedestals out of up by the house in a project before the pool.

Here is a seating wall that blocks off a 2'+ dropoff at the back of the raised deck.

And here is a multipurpose table that is really a way to hide and protect an electrical outlet sticking up out of the decking. Originally the outlet was to be where a post from the pavilion would be but we eliminated the two center posts in the design. On another thread people were talking about how to conceal/shield an electrical outlet and that got me thinking. It was really just like playing with Legos. I started placing them and rearranging them until something useful and not ugly came about. Wife gave the thumbs up so now I'll glue them down and together.

That wall reminds me of Stonehenge :)

Ha, good one...from close to the source too! No burials have occurred here that I know of. Ironically, the wind blew over a few blocks the other day (quite a wind - and not glued yet) so I had to do a restoration, similar to the real thing.

Yeah, snapped a few neighborhood trees including one of ours. Thankfully my cover was open as several pieces of furniture ended up in the pool...which may have torn the cover otherwise.

A few more miscellaneous pool pics...

First an apparition playing hoops in our pool.

And a thunderstorm panorama from yesterday. Suz - notice all the lirope. I love it also. This is the oft used Big Blue variety.

Oh, I'm over the moon seeing the panorama of your place. Maybe I've missed a photo from earlier posts, but I don't think I've seen an overview of your place. I've just seen one part at a time.

Your place is amazing, truly amazing. When I scrolled down to get to the bottom of the page and glanced, I thought it was an Italian villa. But no, it's the Bmore estate.

It reminds me of Martin Kennedy's place in many ways. I guess initially the water bird statue in the foreground caught my eye. All the different levels and unique architectural features also make me think of Martin's place. Not to mention the lovely landscaping (my favorite). Blooms of color everywhere. The liriope is striking, even though it's a simple plant.

And I know you've built and designed most, if not all, of it on your own. I am in awe.

The photo - that's a picture worth framing. The storm is a powerful part of the scene. Enter that in a contest. To have such artistic ability and construction skills.... I can't imagine.

Thanks for sharing. Such a visual treat and a lovely way to close the day! Suz.
