The fuse blew on my IC40 the other day, so I replaced it and got the green LED back, but the IC40 remains dark. Do I need to replace the cell?

Most likely, but it could be a bad surge card or the cell itself..
Do you have a volt meter?
If so, you can test the DC output from the surge card and see if you get 30 to 40 volts DC,
Test it with the cell disconnected and the with the cell connected.
How old is the cell??

Most cells last 5 to 7 years...
How big is your pool in gallons??
The entire cell, including all the lights work off of the 30 to 40 Volts DC that comes from the Surge card (Power supply card) and goes to the cell. If you have 30 to 40 volts, with the cell connected, and the cell has no lights, the cell is bad.

How big is your pool in gallons??

Got it, thanks. Pool under 10k gal. We moved in only a couple years ago, so not sure how much use the SWG saw.

A 40K cell with a 10K pool is the reason the cell has made it this long...
A cell needs to be at least 2 x the pool volume and bigger is always better, especially in Texas.
Have you looked at the cell since you bought the house?? If not, you want to make sure it is not full of scale.

More like what abuse it saw. Like the 'clean with acid every 3 months' that it says right on the unit. (The new ones say to inspect and clean when necessary). Or the dry acid used from the pool store PH/TA roller coaster.

Thanks, I haven't taken the cell out but I will now. Never noticed any calcium flakes in the pool though.
So I finally got around to cleaning the cell, which had moderate scaling—still no lights. Do I need to remove the surge card to test the voltage?
