New Pool Build In Progress - IG Vinyl

There is only the light fixture at our back door currently.
I have 2 standard issue flood lights with the 2 bulbs and love them. They lit up the old pool that was 75 ft away.

One (double) might be enough but they don't do so well when facing opposite directions and it would be easy enough to stagger a 2nd one a few feet over.

I have the 3 way LED one in the driveway and it is uncomfortably bright close to the house but doesn't go very far.

That will work!!!

They poured concrete on the flat part of the deep end and the shallow end. Not sure how long they will wait to pour the slopes. All he said was they will let it setup then do the slopes. Rain in the forecast for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

And now it's raining...

Just for the heck of it, here are a couple pics of my BIL pool. He had an ex pool store owner help him. Not sure why you’d want the pipes coming up behind the equipment and through the concrete but hey whatever. His wife also said they just got it clear, guess they had algae for the last 2 weeks or so. I know they dumped all kinds of chemicals in there.74FF2D57-62C7-44C0-9029-BF7D762881C7.jpegE26E8189-1B61-4AFB-A428-88953688E037.jpeg

I seriously considered it for the year+ I looked at the empty forms for the pad. I never got around to putting pipes under it and now I climb over and around them everytime. 🤦‍♂️

Have you ever considered putting a large window or bi-folding doors on the wall of the sunroom facing the pool? Might be nice to catch some sun with a view of the pool.

We have LED flood lights on the corners of our house which worked well when it was just yard, and probably still be ok with the pool. But I'm thinking it will feel like a concentration camp when in the pool with these lights beaming down on me. We have pool lighting but sometimes an unlit pool is ideal. So we are changing the flood lights to ambiance lighting that will reflect down the walls of the house. Distance of pool to lighting obviously matters, and how much light one wants also. But would some low current lighting around the pools landscaping be an option to floods on the wall. Or maybe something mounted on the sunrooms wall.

That's looking great.
Thanks!!!

PB stopped by to see how much rain we got and pick up a tool. Said they would try and finish the concrete in the pool Monday depending on rain. Then They will do the forms for the decking and patio this week.

The jandy neverlub valves I ordered should be here Wednesday. Doubt he needs them before then.

They poured the slope that goes from the shallow end to the deep end. I'm guessing they aren't doing the side slopes today. Looking like rain or storms around 3:00 off and on until 6:00. They put a pump on the very end of the deep end bottom and built up the dirt around the sides of the bottom to funnel the water towards the pump. They were forming up the patio when I was home at lunch. I'll take pics if it isn't raining this evening.

They need more "chairs" in the patio area. They get the wire off the floor so it is close to the middle of the concrete.
I will have to ask him and see, thanks for the reminder.

I'm hoping it's the picture that's deceiving and that slope isn't as steep as it looks.
Very deceiving to say the least, it is sloped correctly.

Haha, my daughter was on her way to our house after her 12 hour overnight shift at the hospital. She called me and was fussing about following a concrete truck going 25 mph down the main road and then it turned on our road and went 5 mph.

Before Menards runs out of stock, do I need to go ahead and pick up some liquid chlorine for kick starting the chlorine in the pool once (whenever that is) they get to the point of filling my pool?

If yes, a couple of cases be enough? Just want to help the SWCG out in the beginning.

I haven't even talked to the PB about what he uses as I only use the Troublefreepool Way!!

I bought 6 gallons and only needed 4 until the SWG was up and running. It all depends how long you take creeping up to the target salt level.

One gallon of 10% is a skootch under 5.5 FC for you. Figure one gallon to get the party started and then a little over 2/3 gallon a day until the salt level of good. By the time you're filling the daily loss will have dropped and you might only need 1/2 gallon a day.

4 gallons is probably plenty to start, that will buy you a week.

That sounds like a good plan and you’re right, the time we fill daily loss will be a lot lower. One thing is for sure, as long as it’s filled and the water is 72 degrees or above, I’ll get in.

I figure that my heat pump should get me up to the lower 80’s as long as the pool is filled by the middle to end of September. Any later then that and the air temp at night will be pushing 50’s.
