New Pool Build In Progress - IG Vinyl

Water was 74 yesterday afternoon, I was bored so I spent an hour in the pool.

Today I backwashed and rinsed. After moving the filter handle, I noticed it’s leaking where the handle is. Texted the PB to come check it out tomorrow if he can. I turned the pump off everytime I moved the selector handle like you are supposed to do. When the sight glass was clear, I went back to the filter setting. Then all this crud just blew into the pool. So much that I can’t even see the bottom. Grrrr

Weird. Keep us posted with what the PB finds.

Have you deep cleaned from all the construction dirt that it sucked up ?

I sure did and when the pump came on all 4 jets were blowing out dirt. Made me so mad!!
I made up my mind early that with all the dirt blowing, this year wasn't going to count. :ROFLMAO:

Even with 24/7 filtering, I got hazy at times and it sure as snot wasn't algae with my hot FC in the teens at times. Letting that go mentally, really helped everytime more dirt got dumped/blown in.

With 2 years off, I was rusty and did something similar the first time I cleaned the filter. A few handfuls of dirt got redistributed. But this year didn't count so I blissfully let it go.

Here I was hoping that would be the fix but KNEW deep in my heart you had done it right :(
The thing that makes me the most mad is the leaking from the multiport valve handle. Not sure what the Crud that is about but it’s leaking pretty good.

Guess I could just shut it all down until PB looks at it.

I’m about to that point. Ph is still high and I’m about ready to throw in the towel on it. I’ve got another hall one of muriatic acid about to unleash on the pool. Lol

Quality control went to crud for *everything*. I'm now almost surprised when something new doesn't have an issue. :ROFLMAO:

To be clear, I let the amount of inblowong dirt 'go', the chemistry certainly mattered. But I get the sentiment :)

It also brings up a great point. What are the plans for closing ? Will you be closing ?

I knew what you meant and I have no plans on letting the chemistry go, just ticked off at the Ph.

I plan on closing it but it probably won't be until December or whenever the PB installs the cover anchors. LOL

I had thought about just keeping it open but if we get a bad winter storm and lose power, I'd be in trouble. Usually if power goes out it's for less than an hour but we have had ice storms and lost power for days to weeks.

Then vent away old friend. :)

I feel that as well. There are many years that winter is a non event, but it does get nasty for some of them. It can be 70, or -3, and how you done go and plan around THAT ???????

It just blows my mind that after 2 gallons of muriatic acid that I can't keep the Ph in line. It comes down for one night and boom right back to 8 something. It's not like I have a waterfall dumping into my pool churning up the water. I really don't get it...Ph straight out of the hose is 7.5.

Is there anything else that can cause the Ph to continuously be high?

It's joined at the hip with its BFF TA. Eventually you'll pull the PH so many times that the TA comes along too and they both stabilize.
Beat TA into submission without causing to much aeration..LOL

Coming from a pool that I never had to adjust Ph in the 7+ years we had it to this pool, is frustrating. I'll get it to where it needs to be.

Haven't heard from the PB so who knows if he will be by today or not. Should I just shut off the pump and valves for now or let it continue to leak? The leak is enough to keep the top of the multiport wet and then around the base of the filter but now so much that it's running off the pad and making the dirt wet.

Yeah. It's going to hurt more than it helps. Run the pump once or twice a day to mix the chems. Remember tho that you are now the SWG and need to add your own chlorine.

Maybe 'I had to shut the system down' will have more pull with the PB than 'there are some drips'. For all he's done right, I'm sure he will again, but priorities and whatnot matter too.

So your log page comes up, but blank so I can't see what's going on. (Not your fault, standard tech glitch kinda thing)

What range are you trying for the PH ? Are you adjusting it a little (to 7.8) or alot (low 7s like you're still working on TA)

I'm still having issues with it on my pc.

I was shooting for the low 7's but after adding a gallon last time, it only dropped to 7.5 and then shot back up the next day to 8.2 or higher.
