New pool build *Avondale/Litchfield Park, AZ* Presidential Pools

No fence....interesting. Down here in Pima County they recently updated the pool codes so that a fence was all but required (with or without kids). To do your setup where the pool is essentially the entire backyard here in Pima, I believe you'd have to show the inspector that your home's exterior doors were all self-closing and/or continuously alarmed. Again, kids or no kids, wouldn't make a difference.

No big deal, I was just wondering....good luck with the curing...it gets kind of boring watching the concrete dry :p

Well they WERE OK with the fence overall but if there was a section either too saggy or too loose, they did find their way over/under. The orange fence has been removed at this point and unsure if we will need it again.

Regarding the pool fence/auto close doors, we did have to sign with the city an affidavit that we didn't have kids as an exception to the pool fence. I would've hated one and would've been a possoble deal-breaker if we were required with additional space loss.

PB is coming out today to see how things are going and goal is to get the decking going starting Monday.

Ah, I see, that makes a lot of sense.

As for space loss, I can totally see how that would be a deal-breaker. The only way to do a fence would be to essentially fence-in your porch which would have made it look like a prison. Alternatively, you could have remodeled the porch into an "Arizona Room" but that would have been more $$$.

Love your setup, and it's going to be awesome when you get your XL Big Green Egg installed ;) ;) ;)

Well... funny you mention the BGE, I think i've decided that I am actually going with a Primo oval (large or XL) after researching and looking at them in person again.
I can't wait, a few weeks more and the major stuff will be done, then it's time to build the island.

Good luck with the Primo. I love my Egg, but I love smoked foods even more. Sounds line a sweet setup there no matter the smoker :)

Well, no workers yesterday for the decking forms (thou was "on the schedule") and called the PB and "Yeah I was just about to call you" (right...) so they are supposed to come out today but wife just said, no one is there yet (8am) and this will also push out the pouring of the decking too. First PB frustration that wasn't weather related.

So they "they" came out and all of a sudden the pile of dirt they left (partially at my request for additional landscape work we are having done) was "in the way" for the decking/patio I was not pleased as they 1- Put it there 2- have walked around/on/over it since the dig and as such pushed back not only their work but my pergola work yet another day. Small delays (and stupid ones at that) add up time-wise for us and financially for them.
I called the PB this am as he was having the excavator come back out and smooth out the pool surroundings and to move and get rid of the pile!
I wasn't pleased and re-confirmed that I expect the dirt to remain and since you are moving it, move it out front as that is where the dirt will be used in the landscaping. If I wanted to GC the project, I would've saved some cash. Will advise later update when I get home.

The pergola is going to provide some nice shade. I'd be curious how your tile meeting goes. It's very interesting seeing how all the various builds follow different processes with the builders. And how gunite and decking seem to be two points of the processes that we all get excited about. -Karen
