New Northeastern Pa Build

question of the day:

i'm using an easytouch4 so i have 2 valves i can automate.

which should i do and why?

1. bottom drain and floor return?

remember I have:

2 skimmers
3 surface returns
1 bottom return
bottom drains
dedicated suction cleaning line for hand vac

jim

ok since i didn't get any input my builder went and did what he wanted. the setup is as per picture. the idea is all can stay open when heated water or non heated water is running. i change pressure from them as able wit the below picture setup.

there will be an automated valve as shown in the middle 3 way. it will be a bottom heat only mode if i want. it will shut down the right sided 2 pictured returns and force hot water through bottom return and the seat then.

they didn't valve out every single thing cause he said i can change output manually a little from the left and right valve.

so i don't have complete control. what do you all think?

I'm so sorry, Jim! I read about automation and plumbing, and all I hear is :blah::blah::blah: It's like a foreign language to me.

Do you still need some help on it? I can put out a call for help, or did you start a new thread?

I just read your post on another thread about using Flickr for posting pictures. I've got such a mess. Do you know about their Terms of Service? I know Imgur's sounds like they could follow PhotoPhail's path. I can't work on any of this until after this week, but just curious.

Suz,

I'm all good! thanks!

don't know about flikr except i have used them for at least 8 years so far with no issues. i even have had a few of my flower pics picked up various magazines! lol i have never had copyright issues. never issues of them wanting me to pay for something. they actually keep increasing their storage space. i seriously have no idea why someone would use something else. it's so good!

Thanks, Jim! That's good to hear. When I get power again (bad storms last night - going on 14 hours no power. Please Mr. Sun, stay away today!), I'll check out their TOS. But first, I'm saving my pictures to a jump drive!

i'm sorry you got no power! that stinks. i hope you guys get up going soon! be safe!

Thanks for your good wishes - they worked! The power just came back on - two hours earlier than the power company estimated! First things we did? My son made his espresso, and I put the fan right next to my bed on high! I'm going to catch up on some z's!

Horrible day! just all kinda problems with material and moving through the electrical. i have lots of progress pics but started a new thread cause i had specific plaster questions re: some things on the shell pre plaster.

i'll post up pics later tonight, but i do have another thread with some possible issues. maybe not. i just don't know. i'm questioning myself with everything it seems these days.

jim

ok i am working on pics but i'll vent.

so the easy touch panel has been missing for days. even though we should have ordered it months ago. so last week plaster gets moved from sat to thursday. no panel still. so my buddy who is a electrician cx's jobs moves people around to be there this monday. no equipment on monday. pump shows up monday. no panel still. electrician friend says cx work tomorrow we are doing electrical today cause panel will be in we were told. today comes. we make a parts list. i hit the distribution house. they are 200' short of some of the sub panel run. we had to do all separate pieces of wire cause you can't put a single run encased in conduit for a sub panel cause of heat build up. so we have to split into 6 conductor. first place 2 pieces short. i go to second place. they say you can't do what you want to do and didn't have it cut. i say cut it. they say no. i say i don't care cut it. so i show them the plan from the last distribution house. they say oh you already have the other4 wires. i said DUH! cut it. 45 mins later. 2 wires are cut! no ones works there i think. 2 hrs later i finally get back to the job! no easy touch panel still. so we wire what we can. it's now 1 PM. no panel. so we decide to bag it. 2pm. panel shows up!!!!! ahhhhh! my buddy is already on another job. can't ask him to me back now. so we decided to do it tomorrow if it rains cause he can't do the other job in the rain. we will just suck it up and wire in the rain. if no rain he hits the other job and we do the 25th hour install day of plaster. lol we have everything set up to go. we just have to cut material for temp hanging panel since panel will go on pool house. actually all of our wiring is temp cause everything electrical has to be moved to pool house next year. we are going to try and leave everything long so we don't have to touch the pad. total waste of day. i hate days like that. i'm a have everything in hand and start at 7 guy. if i didn't have wire issues at distribution house i would have been 45 mins and we could have gotten done quick. hit other job and came back tony job after 2 maybe.

i got pics coming of tile and coping. no one can see my pad cause it looks like a war zone. pipes everywhere. trenches open. things not level yet. wire threw up all over everything.

on a lighter note. suz is getting me all setup with chemicals. i got bleach and acid. 8 gallons of each. i got to get cya and i assume my builder will give me DE for filter. suz thanks again!

jim

ok tile coping saga of past 2 weeks almost. again we are a 1 man show! lol but that is good. less hands to stir the pot! i like it like that.

You're welcome, Jim. It was easy - just confirmed what you were already about to grab when you were at the store...

The coping is beautiful! Your tile and coping look outstanding together. In fact, they compliment the gunite perfectly! Lol! Maybe you need to change your plaster color to that of the gunite. Hmmmm, I wonder what color water that would make??

getting chemicals together and other stuff for start up:

1. test kit from becky. got all i need. i know.
2. whale brush with pole for brushing.
3. 8 gallons 31.5 % acid
4. 8 gallons 10% chlorine
5. need to get DE
6. need to get CYA

what else do i need?

jim

Calcium Hardness (CH increaser). I would wait and test the truck water. It's easy enough to pick up or order from Amazon.

Did you get the SpeedStir, too?

Do you want my Amazon favorites list for a new pool? There's some stuff you might find handy and some frivolous stuff, too.
