New Northeastern Pa Build

Calcium Hardness (CH increaser). I would wait and test the truck water. It's easy enough to pick up or order from Amazon.

Did you get the SpeedStir, too?

Do you want my Amazon favorites list for a new pool? There's some stuff you might find handy and some frivolous stuff, too.

got he speed stir. i love it!

CH increaser. totally forgot that one!

that amazon list would be awesome! will i be able to buy CH increaser around here?

i'm so clueless with this chemical stuff now!

You would be the one to like that smell! I hope you don't give your wife 'Eau de Bucket'....

lol i walk in the house from fishing and she says strip in the garage you smell like fish. lol you get pretty soaked fishing in a yak. and i always wear jeans no matter how hot.

those jeans can stand up themselves even after being washed. lol

Yes, you can get the CH increaser at a pool store - sometimes is less expensive than Amazon. After you get going, you can shop around for prices here on TFP and also on the web and big box stores.

Municipal water districts use chlorine to sanitize. I assume they all do. My tap water has an FC of 1.5 to 2.5 I'd be more worried if your FC was 0!

When you get a chance, test these 2:
TA
CH

PH is fine..........in fact it is just about purrfect! PH can range from 7.2-7.8 We will work on the finial spot for your PH once everything settles down once you get plaster and have been into it a while.

That coping............he has some made skills! It is so clean looking and well done! The tile work is awesome. It DID come out great!

well my buddy got all the electrical done today except finishing the conduit for the 100 amp service in the basement. he needs 1 more elbow to go into the breaker box. i just finished wiring in the screen logic interface (wired version) into the house. i ended up running a 4 wire into the house vs a cat5e from the house with interface outside. that was i can service it easier from inside if there is an ip issue. i'm waiting for joe to come back now form another job to do the circuit board wiring for the easy touch. aux inputs and such. all the hot side wiring is done. i'm going to walk him through the wiring and he is going to get it done. he can wire quicker than me and i know he wants to get home. the panel and pad is looking a bit better. i have to keep telling myself all wiring is temp cause next year the panel will be going over to the pool house so it's done properly it's just not up to either of our standards. i hope all this works! he has done hayward and other brands. this is his first pentair. but i think i got the circuit board and load wiring figured out. :)

jim

oh we be done! all is working on the panel side. funny story of how burnt out we both are for the day. we turn the panel on. it works. so then we decide to move the com for screen logic. we open up the circuit panel unplug a few things. close up, turn panel on. . . . nothing! transformer is humming, it has power, breaker has power and is working properly. nothing! what??! try the heater. . . nothing. . . pump. . . nothing. i said i bet the circuit panel is bad. we got on the horn with pentair. 45 mins later still no agent. we have a few beers while waiting. we decide to check power for the wire that powers the circuit panel. it has power! what??! plug it back in. try breaker. it turns on! what??! then joe says wait a minute! he unplugs it again and reverses the plug with wires. nothing!

ya you got it! we had the plug in backwards! lol i blame joe cause he is the one who unplugged it first. all his fault!

lol i got to eat dinner. my wife made chicken marsala and he showed up when food went on the table so i had to go out with him. i'm going to clean up my equipment room in basement and i'll snap a pic or 2 of the business side of the electrical. my pad is not available for pictures yet. lol it's a mess. he keeps saying it's temporary. chill.

jim

What a day! I'm so glad YOU found out it was JOE's fault! Lol!!! Great story, well sort of.... I didn't understand anything until, "we had the plug in backwards!" Then it was really funny!!

At least the day ended well! Plaster on Thursday???

Make sure you have these:
sodium hypochlorite
hydrochloric acid
1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triol

as of right now it's on. water ordered for 1 i was told. the catch is there is scattered t-storms for after 1. now they were also forecasted for past 2 days and we got nothing. please please everyone say a prayer for us tomorrow. i'm a nervous wreck.

i got 8 gallons of chlorine, 8 gallons of 31.5% acid, 2 bottles of CYA, and 1 bottle of CH increaser, 1 whale brush.

am i good?

what kinda stuff should i be watching for during plaster. my builder is going to be in and out. certain things to look for to make sure they do correct or to shortcut something?

i'm really worried with the weather. so once it's acid washed and filling it can rain all night right?

jim

ps i'll test my water in the morning. i'm done for the night. i moved around some stuff in one of my racks to make room for some audio changes i'm thinking about outside. that took me a while to get wiring back to where it was.

You're good to go on the chems you bought.

Definitely check the bags for the correct finish and the correct color. As far as what else to check for, I don't remember!! I was too excited. As a DIY-er, you'll probably know if you see something that doesn't look right. Maybe someone else will give some pointers.

Try to relax... seriously. The weather is out of your control. Leave the plaster to the plaster company. It's on them and their dime to make it right. Plaster day is a fun and exciting day, so try to enjoy it.

Once it's time to fill, it doesn't matter at all if it rains!

Jim's getting plastered, Jim's getting plastered! Weeeeeeee!!!

I will! I got my Camera all ready!

maybe I'll just drink all day! Lol and try to program the easy touch.

i knew to check the bags. I even called the plaster company to check what they had for color on record.

So when we fill. Nothing gets turned on till totally filled? So Friday they will fire everything up and start brushing along with starting to balance out water?

Thanks!

Correct, nothing will be turned on until after the pool is completely filled. If it were, then the skimmers would suck air.

Since you're getting trucked-in water, after it's filled or topped off from your hose, test this water. Everything except CYA. Do that before your PB or anyone adds chemicals.

More than likely, Friday the equipment will be fired up, and brushing will begin as well as balancing the water. Talk to your PB. He can best tell you his plan. Some PB's will wait a day or 2 to begin everything. My pool was filled on a Friday, and nothing else was done until Monday morning. That works, too.

Now, get some sleep and have happy dreams of your beautiful pool!

Mixing all done. Finish work now. The tilted pipe. The guys cut it and repligged it. It is straight almost now. Can't tell at all. Good guys. Watching out for the customer.

Water is coming at 1.

Just did all my tap water tests finally.

pH 7.5
FC .5
TA 30 1 extra drop to see if it went any darker and then minus one
CH 50 went very very light pink. then 1 drop to light blue and 1 more drop to a darker blue. 1 more drop no change so 3-1 therefore 2x25

how am i looking suz

You're lookin' great, and so is your pool!! It looks lovely. And your mickeys are perfect! I bet the guys loved them. They must enjoy seeing something new and fun on a pool after hundreds of the same old, same old. One thing for sure, they won't forget your pool!

Lol. These guys r animals. They r like 90 mins ahead of themselves. They aren't rushing though. I called to see if we can gets trucks earlier. I hope I gets covered with water before it rains hard at 1ish.
