New Build in Middle of Nowhere Texas

So knowing they just put up what was in the boxes how they wanted to...................are there any "ugly" ones?

I guess I’m not too picky, they all look great to me!

I would walk around the pool and look for tiles with chipped edges. I must've found 15 or so. And every time they would come replace them, I would look again and find another one. I felt a little bad because I think it was like 4 or 5 times I sent the PB a text saying I found a couple more. They were good about it and just came and replaced them each time. No hassle.

@Turbo1Ton That is a good idea. Take some white tape with you that is easy come off to mark them.

I did look at all the tiles and didn’t see any cracked. BUT there is a piece of coping that the color and texture is off. I messaged the builder and he said no worries, I’ll have him replace it when he comes out to finish the back wall

That was easier than I had thought.

My husband couldn’t tell what piece I was talking about, I bet y’all can!

Your pool is looking great! You really lucked out on locking down not only *a* builder, but a *great* builder from what your pictures show. We were in a similar situation where we were too far from Houston and College Station, so we heard a lot of "not in our area" while looking for builders last year. I'm jealous of the raised edge - we were going to try something similar but the slope of our yard was too gradual.

And I've spent my fair share of money at Woody's. As soon as I saw Centerville, I could taste that jerky!

I’m literally a couple blocks from Woodys I swear I can smell it sometimes! We feel very lucky as well. Also this builder was 20k cheaper than the other quotes and theirs were smaller with no bar and no water features! I keep waiting for them to do something janky but so far they are doing amazing! Fingers crossed it stays that way

We had picked out the Turkish walnut travertine but now due to cost our builder is recommending that we use travertine from Mexico. Has anyone compared the travertine from turkey vs Mexico? The Turkish version seemed to have more character (color variation, pitting) in the samples. thanks.

I think it is called light walnut - it was from Noble Tile (they have one in Dallas and one in Houston). It was what was in their catalog and showroom. I have no idea where it is from - I probably should have investigated but I have been a slacker this pool build!

My least favorite time is plumbing. It’s so messy. And of course we’re expecting rain tonight I’m not complaining though. It’s getting there. Builder thinks we will have water first or second week in May. I’m not so optimistic lol.

I think they are doing decking next week. If it isn’t raining.

We asked our builder to hand shovel dirt under all of the raised pipes to give them a decent "base" before backfilling the trenches with a skidsteer. Everything pressure tested fine afterwards, so it did the trick for us.

We’ve been waiting for a few weeks finally covering up plumbing and then got a downpour last night. Doesn’t look like any damage, thankfully. Hopefully it will be ready for decking next week

Also my outdoor bar/kitchen keeps getting bigger it started as 10X10 and it’s WAY bigger now.

So ready for water.
