IceShadow’s pool thread 2022

So it looks pretty clear.

Until you get into the light. >.<

The filter PSI went from 15.5 after I backwashed yesterday to 18 today, so I’ll backwash again tomorrow and add some DE to the sand filter.

Pressure on the filter was up to 18 or so. Backwashed again, and added 5 cups of DE to the skimmer to take it from 15.5 to 16.5.

Hm. Heater has only warmed the pool 10 degrees in 5+ hours. Maybe that’s normal but aren’t these flames supposed to be blue?

Took apart the pump. Cleaned it out. As suspected, pine needles. Not a ton of them but must be enough to mess with it.

Had a bit of a scare when it wouldn’t re-prime, but then found out an o-ring fell out of my union before the pump. Found it, put it in, primed slowly but primed. No error yet. :)

So the first time I added DE, it went from 16.5 to over 20 overnight. May have been too soon. This time I let the pump run for 2-3 days and found little to no change in the filter pressure. Now I added 4-5 cups of DE again. We’ll see how it does.

I think the crud in the light is starting to dissipate. May not get better than this. I know these lights can make everything show at night. But I think it’s improving. :)

Heater is on. Pool is currently at 70 deg, heater set for 80. Supposed to be warm tomorrow and should be my fist swim of the year. :)

It's a never ending battle this time of year and again in the fall. Between the trees and the farm fields planting, there is just fine crud being blown in all the time.

It’s time for the trees to drop their thingies that cover the growing leaves. So I’ll be filtering those out. Another windstorm will drop a nice thick layer of pine needles too, but for now, we’ll see what the DE does. :)
