I got my test kit!! Now what!!?

No change :( the test color is still just as dark. Would it be advisable to double up on the MA? I know we've gotta go grab some more bottles of that anyways. I have notice a slight change in the color of the green at the very top. talking about like two or three inches deep, the first step inside the pool seems to be lighter than before, just a hair lol. I'm feeling hopeful.

Dose again 30 minutes after that last test and target 7.2.

Always good to be hopeful! Btw, how much bleach/liquid chlorine do you have on hand?

Also, did you add the CYA to get you to 30? I looked back on the thread and didn't see that you did, but it was a quick scan.

I have 11.5 bottles of bleach now.... I'll check back in 30 minutes. I haven't done any other test other than pH testing. I haven't added any CYA/stabilizer yet. The bleach is the only thing I've added other than the MA because I didn't want to waste any product

Just wondering why it wouldn't be easier to do a acid demand test. Just curious if there is a reason why you dont.

Good afternoon everyone,

So bit of change today. I am now LOWER than I need to be. Sitting at around 6.8. I know some of you have stressed that I need to be at 7.2 and so I would like to know should I take the steps to raise it to 7.2 or should I go ahead and go forward with adding bleach? I added stabilizer last night as instructed. If need be, I'll hop over to PM and see what I need to do to get up to 7.2

Thanks everyone for your continued help.

Whoops. If your pump was on when you were doing all that adding, maybe wait an hour before retesting. Are your return jets pointed down and around in a circular pattern? Like say, are they all pointed at 4:00 or 4:30? That is best for good circulation.

You need to raise pH back up using 20 mule team borax which you can find in the laundry aisle.

And you can add a half jug of bleach.

If you haven't added the borax yet, do a TA test first. It has probably come down with all that MA you added. Your TA level will affect how much borax to add. If you do recheck TA, be sure to put that new value in both the now and target boxes.

Okay I've had couple days of being completely busy. So I decided just to get a whole new round of tests. pH is back up so back to the MA.

Here's my updated numbers as of today.

Ph above 8.2
Calcium hardness 150ppm
Total alkalinity 50
Free chlorine 4ppm
Combined chloramines 0
Total chlorine 4
Cya 30

Gonna get back to work with MA.
