during leaf season I need to clean skimmer baskets multiple times a day and don't want to shut off the pump every time. Is there a way to "lock" the weir in upright position to block the flow while you are cleaning the skimmer?
how to remove skimmer with the pump running and keep debri from getting sucked in?

If you lock the weir with the pump still running it'll block the water to the extent that the pump will (likely quickly) empty the skimmer, and then the plumbing...and then the pump will start sucking air and will lose prime.

just reach in and yank out the debris....the suction should keep the basket from coming out.
