Help with SLAM

I THINK the opening in the pic a few posts up is a.............shoot can't think of the name...............but you drop a pump down into it to pump water out of the ground during times of big rain to keep it from getting behind and under the liner/pool.

Maybe. Never done it. I don’t think it’s the issue.

Ok. I took pump basket out to empty and tried to look in pipes. Hard. I can see some gunk. Tried to scrub. Nothing fits. Is this normal. Reference picture.

Yeah, maybe 1 1/2" in flex brush like I showed you for laminars?

I used it to clean the tubes of my ladder. Should go around the corner...

Found one that is dual ended. Thin for laminate and 1 1/2 inch in the other end. Be here Monday. I’ve been using someone else’s suggestion to do the five mill test per one drop to have drops for the day till my drops get here tomorrow

While I’m waiting on this slam, can you point me towards your BEST resource for pump time and SWG to avoid this mess again per CYa. I am going to be gone about six weeks this summer on and off and have a neighbor who will be watching the pool. It’s not his fault he did a really good job but I just simply did not have my free chlorine high enough last summer for my CYA. I probably wasn’t running my salt cell high enough I certainly ran my pump a long time but I probably wasn’t running swg at high enough percentage. I need to dial that in.

You can use PoolMath effects of adding In the hamburger menu
To play around with percentages & run times based on how long u generally run your pump. The average residential pool uses 2-4ppm of fc per day (towards 2 or less in shoulder seasons & towards 4ppm+ in the hotter longer days) you will need to adjust your swg periodically based on the season as well as cya (more sunscreen in the dog days of summer).
Here’s one middle of the road example based on your pool volume & swg output 👇

Using what @mdragger said, test your pool a couple times before you go. We can call it 24 hour CLT. Leave the pool alone, with the cover on. Test at the beginning of 24 hours and the end of the 24 hours. Do it a couple times when you are not going to use the pool. This will give you a decent idea of the daily FC loss. We can set it off of that.

Can you arm your neighbor with the FAS-DPD and have them adjust your SWCG weekly?

This is in your sig. Chlormaker CL02 swg. Can you point me online, I couldn't find this, just a spa module.

Hmm. I just looked at my SAG and I don’t see that at all. I had notated SWG but I did not specify. I did just add that I have an IC 40

Ha Ha, got it off Mdragger88s sig. Either way, that helps to know what you have. IC40 is great! Super outsized for your pool (that is good, we recommend at least 2x).

Yes I recently read that also! I’ve only ever run it at about 20-25%. Now I don’t know that that’s actually right so I’ll have to use this calculator.

My pool builder was pretty good. He did a ton for Viking. So many in fact that if you Google Viking empress of majesty You will see pictures of my backyard and pool all over Viking in Latham’s sales materials nationwide and dealers have my yard all over their website lol. If only NFT’s were a thing back then!

The amount of maple seedling falling in my yard and pool are insane. I closed my auto cover. I hate to do it, but I’m going to continue to slam but keep cover closed. Is this a bad idea? The junk falling eating through chlorine.

No, you will be fine! Cover on!
I’ve upped slam to 20 again. I didn’t really check CYA but I did clean filter yesterday and lost water there and from laminars. Seems like when I upped slam my CC shot up. So I’m going with that. Bad storm rolling in. Was very diligent yesterday 😬.

Hey been watching your logs. See that you are questioning results and the method. Also see that you test and add your final bleach for the night, but then don't retest after 30 minutes to get start of OCLT FC. Really like to see a true OCLT!

Did the brushes come? Were you successful getting the gunk you could find? It really seems like your pool is behaving like mine at the end. Something is there that I missed. Until I found the algae in the ladder tubes. Soooo close to OCLT success, but it sits there at 1.5 or 2 OCLT. There has to be a nook or cranny we are missing.

Hey. I have been testing. I met not have posted but I do test for my OCLT. I actually just opened my speed stir and WOW. I’ve held 16 for a bit so I am fingers crossed for OCLT. Pool was brushed and vacuumed before put to bed too, so I’m praying. Cover on to keep the k sane bird droppings and maple seeds out. Retested CYa today too as I’d lost some water and added. Yes, I’ve been discouraged. Brush did come. Not as sturdy as I’d like. I did used it near the pump. Have not had a chance to use it in my laminars as I’ve had a really busy week at work and with kid activities. Will this weekend. Pool looks amazing though.

Also, some I may not have logged if I’ve been losing so fast I knew I wasn’t going to pass. I just dosed and went to bed🤷‍♀️
