True! And thank you for the linkYou’re going to get what you pay for. I picked up a 2-speed pump/sand filter combo on sale after last season. There’s an even better sale now.

Filter balls are so grossAwesome! I'll check it out and probably get one.
I just removed the filter balls and that was disgusting. Also, everything was blocked/covered in thick pollen. So I doubt much water was making it through.
Added sand and it's running now.
Need to do a chlorine test to figure out my slam.
Yeah I put gloves on to get rid of those.Filter balls are so grossthey should be banned.
Yeah I'm doing it right now. So do I just keep back washing?Algae will do that. You're going to begin a SLAM, right?
Ahh gotcha. The gauge is bad on my filter..After a backwash, record your new lower filter pressure. When the pressure rises 25% then you backwash again.
I would wait for the new pump system. Just keep any eye on your return flow to gauge when to backwash. I would wait on the SWG for now unless you are doing new plumbing for the new pump which would be a good time to put it in. Maybe I'm mixed up on what you're doing right now since this thread is so long
Up to you. The new one is probably low quality and would benefit from an upgrade, particularly a 30 psi gauge that you don't need to squint at.Do I still buy a gauge for this weekend?
Wait until the water is clear to *use* the swg. It can be hooked up before, and doing so might even be a welcome distraction while waiting between FC adds / brushing/ backwashing. Also, should I wait until my water is clear to add the swg
Thanks! It definitely helps and I appreciate it.Up to you. The new one is probably low quality and would benefit from an upgrade, particularly a 30 psi gauge that you don't need to squint at.
Or keep the good one until the junk one dies too.
Or just deal for a few more days and worry about it next time.
I hope this helps.
