Well hey... at least you don't get 3ft of snow over there right?

Well hey... at least you don't get 3ft of snow over there right?

I really shouldn't complain about the weather, I live about 2 hours from the base of the mountains, (one of two places Australia gets snow), so we just get the wind and the rain off the snow, but I reckon this year, we'll get some weird weather.... Just 5 more months to go :-(

Excellent news... Things have been given a violent shove forward... :) 6 railway sleepers are being delivered on Thursday, so I can build the frame and get it level.... The greatest thing about this, I only have to level the frame itself, and the space inside the frame.... I've cut my workload by a third.... :)

We dragged the pool frame out this morning and put it together, to get an idea of how much space we will need with the sleepers. They are 20cm wide...... I was so surprised to see that I will not have very much room for turf..... AT ALL.... :) About a 30cm strip the whole way round... :) So we've decided to do the whole yard with decorative pebbles.... :) Right next to the base of the pool, I've chose a 67mm thick marine rope to protect the liner, then I will put white polished rocks 30-40mm in size to fill out to the railway sleepers, then I think I will use river rocks, on the other side of the sleepers, to fill the gap, as they will provide a great contrast next to the wood of the sleepers and the white rocks... :)

This way I don't have to level the entire front yard, and I've reduced costs yet again... :) Pics on Thursday when the sleepers arrive... I've got more work to do out the front, the rain has made my yard very uneven and I've got grass growing back there, so I need to put in about 4 hours I reckon....

So excited to get going again.... When I get the yard done I will put the pool up, fill it to below my returns, balance the water, bring it to shock level and cover it for the rest of the winter, so I'll be ready for summer.... Then the decorating begins.... :)

ITS RAILWAY SLEEPER DELIVERY DAY TODAY...:) Its freezing cold here at the moment... 37 degrees (3 degrees to me :-( ) and there's a really thick fog hanging around... Not that it will bother me any, the sleepers don't arrive until this afternoon, so plenty of time for the weather to clear... Dave and my landscaper neighbour are going to pick them up.... Its sad as my landscaper neighbour is also leaving the complex this weekend.... They've just had a new baby, and they're moving to a larger house.... It sux when nice neighbours move... He's not moving very far, but it was lovely to just walk across the road.... But I digress...

Need to get to a hardware store and buy a spirit level, and call my painter friend and borrow his laser level... Once I've built the frame and levelled it, I can get my blue metal dust in and level the inside of the frame and just flatten the outside of it in prep for the river rocks.. :) Pics this afternoon..... :)

So much for having the sleepers delivered today.... My neighbour couldn't manage to do it today.... :-( He reckons maybe Saturday..... So I've organised to get them tomorrow myself....

So peed off right now.... His new girlfriend is a demanding cow, hence why they had to move, but apparently she had to go for a jog, and then have a shower and then go get something to eat, so he was too busy today... :whip:

It's happening today Dave! I have organised a friend with a ute and I am getting them tonight at 5.30pm!

But in other fantastic news, my Stenner Pump was delivered this morning! And it came with everything, even spare tubes and weights! So happy right now!

I am surprised at how heavy it is! Now I just have to get the tank for it! And its a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be... I'm just stoked I got a brand new one in its original box with all the trimmings, for $120.00 delivered....It even has the Australian electrical plug so I don't have to convert it... :) I want the tank for it really badly now..lol... I am just reading the manual for it, to see what it can do...

More later when the sleepers arrive today, but it will be dark so pics tomorrow... :)

Here's a better pic of my pump.... They are so much bigger than I thought....

iPhone 5's have crappy cameras... So sorry about the clarity...

Apparently, this particular pump will deliver 1.5 litres of chlorine in one hour, I should only need about 1 litre a day, so I'll be running it for just over half an hour... :) I like the idea of adding it quite quickly when the sun has gone down.... SO EXCITED NOW....

I have a list that I am using to plan my purchases...

The sleepers are obviously next, then the sleeper joiners and a spirit level
Then hire a plate compactor and borrow a laser level and have 2m2 blue metal dust delivered
Then Stones to finish the landscaping around the pool and frame
Then I buy my pump and filter, then I buy the fittings and hoses to fit...Also buying more fittings and ball valves here too, and connections for my peristaltic pump to be connected to my return...
Then the thru the wall skimmer.
Then the peristaltic pump tank.

More later....

37 degrees... I do not miss it at all!!!
Yup and only going to get colder, hence why I want to get the front yard finished....

 I cannot believe the story that goes with these sleepers.... The bloke who let us down yesterday, told hubby this afternoon, we'd be right to go, after he went and moved a load of boxes and small stuff, so Dave cancelled the other friend, and said thanks but we don't need you to help anymore..... Then the bloke who let us down, let us down again, and said he was just having dinner, then he was going to have a couple of drinks, so it wouldn't be till tomorrow.... :taped: So now, I have to organise someone else to come over tomorrow and give us a hand.... Worst part is, its supposed to be raining tomorrow.. And the guy who keeps letting us down, has to move house, so honestly I'm praying for Noah's Ark type rains here tomorrow....... Just so all his furniture can be drenched.....

So still no sleepers, I'm really angry, but my peristaltic pump is the coolest thing in the world... I've just been to US water systems and I've worked out the tank I'm getting, plus the extra parts I'm ordering... I'm going with the 15 gallon tank as its only $20 more than the 7.5 gallon... And the pump is pretty heavy, so I'd like a sturdier base, and the 15 gallon tank will give me that... :)

I hope everyone is enjoying this saga... I'm really not....lol.....

I just went to Amazon and bought myself the Hayward SP1091LX Through The Wall Skimmer.... :) Should be here on the 13th of June... :) I just keep getting a couple of things each week... This way I'm not shelling out big dollars for anything, and I get to search the net for the best possible deals...

I've started a list of things I've bought... The first column is the Recommended Retail Price, the second column is What I Paid For It....

New Intex Pool $1400 $580
Delivery $550 $150
New Intex Strainer Outlet Connectors $19 $19
Intex Rubber O Rings & Nuts $11 $11
Stenner Peristaltic Pump $328 $120
Stenner Tank And Spare Parts $435 $321

We get ripped off heaps here in Australia so I'm grateful for Amazon and those who post to Australia.... Can you believe I found one pool store in Queensland with a Hayward Skimmer and they wanted $245 for it...:ncool:
