First Ever Pool - Above ground bestway 4.2m slice of heaven

Lacey, I find it just so totally odd that it's June and the start of Winter over there! 41 degrees is a bit chilly but nice weather to work in if you dress right. It beat sweating in 90 degree weather and high humidity! I actually enjoy the cool weather you guys are having over there. That coolness can only mean one thing for me and that is Bow Season!!! Others call it Fall or Autumn around here but it's really Bow Season!

Hi Casey, thanks for dropping in... :) I find it odd that you guys celebrate Christmas in the snow... That's just so foreign to me...lol.... :) Santa wears a singlet top and thongs (thongs are flip flops here in Oz) And he doesn't come by reindeer, he stops in the Northern Territory and picks up 6 white Boomers.... :) Big White Kangaroos that bound him across the country... :)

I was looking at your thread earlier, so jealous of the great weather in the pics... And it was nice to put a face to the posts ... :) Your pool is looking so inviting and relaxing, you're doing a great job...... It will be weird for everyone else to see all the Aussies start posting in October and November when our weather heats up.... :snorkle:

It was colder today than it was yesterday due to the chill factor... It was 10 degrees Celsius, but with the wind coming off the mountains it was really 7, so 50 but really 44.... I just hate it... Sam sees sun and automatically thinks its hot, even though its freezing... Chasing him off the trampoline in his pyjamas this morning at 9.30am wasn't fun at all.....Then he has an asthma attack... The fun never stops here.... Winter can kiss my buttcheeks....lol....

If the health care for Samson wasn't so darned good where we live, we'd be moving to the warmer northern states, preferably Far North Queensland... My favourite place in the country....

Well I have just made my hubby's day! NOT!!! I have been losing sleep over this but thank goodness he's a great sport! I am not happy with the pool placement. It's too close to my front door :-( so now we have to revisit removing that diagonal piece of fence!

The good thing is, I don't physically have to remove the fence to set the sleepers in place! It's only when we set the pool up that I will have to move it! So I can keep moving forward with the yard! I woke hubby at 4 am to discuss it lol! He knows me so well!

The bad news is we have to start all over! Busy day tomorrow! Resetting sleepers is heavy work!

Boomers = kangaroos? Learning something new everyday! Yeah, we put up Christmas lights n stuff and they look so pretty with snow on them! I couldn't imagine it being 100° at Christmas! lol. We know Santa in his big red suit n black boots riding his sleigh with his reindeer.

Six white Boomers, snow white Boomers
Racing Santa Claus through the blazing sun
Six white Boomers, snow white Boomers
On his Australian run..... :)

This is the chorus to the best Christmas Carol in Australia.... :)

Wow gtnos, that's an Australian Christmas you're having if its 90 degrees f...lol... :) It just makes more sense to have a hot Christmas....... Its the end of the actual year, the end of the school year, school holidays start, its really hot, everyone goes away or comes home for Christmas, families from everywhere show up in shorts... Its awesome.... The whole country shuts down from Christmas Eve till New Years Day...... :santa:

We will be having a poolside Christmas this year... I'd say everyone will be coming here as I've got the pool... :) Last year was a beach Christmas... :) We'll be drinking white wine in the sun... :)

OMG gtnos! It's crazy! I'm from PA and although we don't always get a white Christmas, it's always cold! I couldn't imagine it any other way! It would be nice though to swim on Christmas day!

A beachy Christmas... It sounds like so much fun.

G'day all again... :) And yes we do say that...

Today was a great day, if it wasn't so bloody cold... I got the frame moved into the position I need.... Pretty happy actually as, after looking at some very detailed reference photos we've managed to take some pretty educated estimates so I can place the frame, AND NOT HAVE TO MOVE THE FENCE... :whoop:

I've reclaimed the front door.... And I can now repave the part next to the sleepers butting up to the already paved walkway... :) That's Genevieve the site manager...

So not too much sticking outside of the fence, and the pool when up and on its legs, it will just fit inside the diagonal fence... I'd like to thank my hubby for being so meticulous with the measurements... I don't think he wanted me waking him in the middle of the night again.... So get it right now, and more sleep later... :)

The electrician will be here Wednesday (fingers crossed), to install new outdoor powerpoints... So looking forward to that, I'm gonna get him to teach me how he does it... :)

This is a pic of the future projector screen site.... :) This year for summer, my hubby's mate has a projector so we will be hi-jacking it from him for this year.... But I might look into that when we buy the spa next winter, (June).... :)

Don't forget that since you are adding new circuits to your fuse box, the power to the entire house will need to be turned off. Additionally, since these are outdoor powerpoints, they will need to be protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD) at the fuse box.

Hi Abigail K... :) Thank you for that I will make sure the electrician does this... :) Welcome to TFP... :)

I've been pricing outdoor home theatres and they are totally doable with this pool build... I was pleasantly surprised to see how much they've come down in price, and the screen Dave wants for his birthday is AMAZING and not expensive... AT ALL.... Just over $100 delivered... Its the great thing about living in the Asia Pacific.... :) except for apple products....

The projector is under $400 delivered.... So I will be putting that in as part of this build... :) Dave is super-keen for this, and I'm excited he's finally getting excited about the pool... It just took a 2.44m x 1.8m projector screen and projector to get him there... He's already imagining watching the Pay Per View Wrestling matches out there whilst floating in the pool.... :)

So excited... :) Just got a text message from the electrician... He should be here tomorrow afternoon at about 3.30pm-4pm... I bet I'm his last job tomorrow as he still lives with his parents and they live one suburb over from me... :) Quick drive home from work for him...

I will take heaps of pics..... :) Since I'm having 2 double powerpoints installed, I've already got room for the projector... :) Everything is coming up Lacey...

My clothes dryer has been broken for months, and now winter is upon us I need it more than ever... Its just a broken belt, so I ordered the part online and hubby said, "Don't worry I can do this no problems"... I said "Absolutely, that's fine, but you've got a week and then I call the repair guys....".... "Deal" he said confidently...

Well Mayner and Cochrane repair guys have just left... lol.... After watching Dave search youtube and installation manuals and trying to do it himself, he failed.... He kept trying to tell me I'd ordered the wrong part, and there's no way that belt was going to fit. Well just to add a little insult to injury I rang Dave at work while the repair guy was here....He was here a total of 10 minutes so it only cost the call out fee ($117), as the part I'd ordered was the right one, he just had to adjust the tensioner..... LOL.....

That poor ol' pink wheel burrow cracks me up! hahahah! I wonder how much dirt that thing has hauled in its life!?!?!

G'day all again... :) And yes we do say that...

:laughblue: She's moved some dirt that's for sure.... She's like part of the family now... We'd fix her, but its actually cheaper to buy a new one.... Hopefully we can put her out to pasture now, she's done all the work we need... We'll be getting a new one for the blue metal dust....... lol.....

I forgot to mention earlier... I was at Bunnings this week, and to my amazement, they have liquid CYA... This is important as my son Samson is autistic and as such, can be a bit compulsive obsessive... He can't have anything he doesn't want, floating in the pool, so liquid, while expensive, is the best option for me..... I did a little dance when I found it...

Thanks Kimkats.... Genevieve is one of two brother and sister cats I have left... Her brother Lancelot is just a beautiful... We just call them Lance and Jenny... :) It should be sweet floating in the pool watching movies... :)

In other news this morning.... MY HAYWARD THROUGH THE WALL SKIMMER ARRIVED THIS MORNING.... :whoot:

I will say this, its much bigger than I thought it was going to be... I thought the same thing about the peristaltic pump also...lol....

Now I've pulled it apart and had a look at it, I'll box it back up, and put it next to the Stenner pump, still in its box... Won't need them till September when you guys are all about to close your pools for winter......

I honestly was reading this thread backwards and just got done hearing about Lance and Jenny then i read the above. Geez i said to myself, they sure do things differently downunder!
