First Ever Pool - Above ground bestway 4.2m slice of heaven

I have to change my signature now... :-( I cannot get the type of Hayward pump I want...It hasn't been available in Australia for 15 years.... My pool is only 17000 litres and practically all of their stuff here in Australia is geared to larger pool of about 40 000 litres minimum.... :-( So bummed......

So I've decided to go with the next best thing and that's Pentair/Onga..... Now to do some research.....

Thanks guys... I feel a little better, been doing some searching, I'm getting an Onga/Pentair Pantera PPP750 1hp pump..... Coupled with the Onga Pantera PCFII-100 Cartridge Filter...... $340 and $330..... I haven't told the hubby yet...lol.... :)

My hubby would say... Whatever you want baby! lol

LOL... My hubby usually would too, but I prepared him for the price of the other filter, and it was $250 less.... He's pretty good about stuff like that.... We've been together for 15 years, so he should know me by now... :) I've already save nearly $500 on the turf, so he can't complain...lol... :)

Mine has always said, Get whatever you want... and then today, he came home to tell me he got a $230 ticket on my car! :grrrr: I could not believe he parked where he did to get a $230 ticket... ON MY CAR!

YAY BONUS... I've found my Stenner Peristaltic pump online in Australia for crying out loud, FOR $100.00 BRAND NEW..... Its not the one I was looking at, but its a series 45MPH10..... BARGAIN....

Never let it be said that it doesn't pay to spend hours online shopping... :)

That is AWESOME news about your son!

I am a Kindergarten teacher. I am the one that gets to let the kids try to be in a regular Kindergarten. I have done it MANY times with success. I have only one that could not handle it with me. He needed a much smaller, quieter classroom than mine. At least he got the chance to try.

So I KNOW just how big it is for him to be playing like that! SWEET!

Hugs to you for cheering for him!

Kim

Thank you Kim.... It really was a beautiful moment... It lasted for 15 minutes... :) I was so proud of him... Sam will be slowly introduced back into primary school as he gets better, you have a very rewarding job.... :)

Since I've had to veto the Stenner Tank due to exorbitant postage charges, I was forced to look somewhere else! And I think what I found is going to be perfect!

It can be stored outside, it holds 60 litres and it's totally sealable and weatherproof ! It will also help to stop chlorine degradation!

And I can drill hoses in the lid :). This one doesn't have a plug so a tap (faucet) cannot be installed! :). That makes me happy, no chance of leaking!

Hubby is over at a mates watching the wrestling, the kids are in bed so I decided to rip that stupid plastic thing off my intex return fitting!

It's not needed and I will be using 2 inch fittings and hose so better flow :)

I should probably have some sort of strainer type thing over my intake. I just have the hayward fittings now and if my skimmer hose isn't stuck in there it's just a hole on the side of the pool. Not really a safety issue for me but I suppose it would help to keep it from sucking in a big leaf or small twig with leaves on it into my pump basket. Nothing dropping from the ridiculous bradford pear right now thank God. Next tree attack will come around July when the marble-like pear looking "seed" things start dropping in.

Another toy to research! LoL Now I have to read up on bleach automation and a strainer thing and I still have no timer. Still runs 24/7

Hey Beens :)... I've been thinking about it, I probably won't even use the grey cover for the above-pictured intex strainer, I'll probably leave it as is.... These strainers are perfect for me as I have to cover my suctions and returns due to my youngest Samson.... I don't want him to put a finger in any of the pools fittings... I have to be concerned about the thru the wall skimmer also... I won't run the filter when he's in the pool, I'll be running it at night in conjunction with my Stenner pump to chlorinate and I do my afternoon/evening testing... :)

I have a tree problem too, but I ripped out three trees in prep for this new pool, but the complex I live in, has VERY LARGE eucalyptus trees that drop leaves ALL the time, and the leaves land on my roof and sometimes into the pool.... :-( That's where the skimmer comes in... :)

Yay I won the auction for the Stenner pump! The only downside is I have to order parts for it!

And I am a little bit ****** actually , US water systems quoted me an exorbitant amount for postage but when I went through the international checkout myself with the 7.5 gallon tank, and the extra parts I need, it was only $110 postage :-( Well at least I got the pump for an excellent price, I can't argue with that...

I've climbed on top of the bills in a fortnight.. :) Love the fact that Dave is back at work and pulling good cash... :) We should be making a great start on the pool by the end of the month... Its my birthday on Friday so we've organised a babysitter for the boys and we're gonna have some fun... :)

My landscaper is moving out of our complex in a couple of weeks, so I have to pull my finger out and get the blue metal dust done and embed the railway sleepers to segregate the yard and create the base for the legs of the pool... I'm not going to assemble the pool... I will wait till September for that....

I love the idea of creating a frame for my pool, and surrounding the liner base in 48mm marine rope, then throw some white stones around the base with the rope protecting the liner... :) Then grass the remaining area...

I wish I could move faster, but cash is restricting us... :-(

Its been lovely to be able to watch others with similar pools to mine, start getting some use out of them for the hot USA summer... :) I've also enjoyed the creativity of intex owners when it comes to landscaping ideas....

Enjoy my American cousins... May your summer be long, and full of clear water.... :)

And I think I really want a heat pump, but that's next year... :)
