This was in the bag with the pressure gauge and air relief valve of a Pentair C & C filter.

I don't see mention of it in the manual nor do I see it on the parts diagram.

No, it is solid - seems to be made out of same material as the tank.

The inner piece is hard plastic. The outer portion is teflon tape. It's supplied so you can wrap the teflon tape around the pressure gauge thread prior to installing the gauge.

I keep a collection of unusual spare parts so that I can drop one or two into the parts bag whenever someone has something to assemble.

I will give it a day or two before telling them.

Usually, it results in a few calls to the manufacturer who, of course, has no idea what the part is.
