Deposit Placed for April 2018 start In-ground Viking fiberglass. Many questions!

Thanks much all. We had great weather today considering we poured yesterday: light rain all day so far from that tropical storm and a high in mid 70s. Very happy with the brush/trowel work will post better pics when it's dry out. We contemplated getting our own concrete sub due to the long time-line but we are happy with their work. A team of 11 did the job, had no idea they'd have such a huge crew.

Pool Co was out today cleaning and getting everything turned on - they started the mineral filter while I was gone. Wasn't on for an hour but these things seem to happen when I'm not home. Going to pull mineral pack out after rain stops. They're coming back out tomorrow to install the auto cover, detail work on concrete, and clean some more.

Test kit (Taylor K-2006C and salt tester) are in route. Really wished the digital options worked more reliably for home pool owners.

Cover goes on today! Along with salt, deck jets, vb net, and deep end ladder hardware. After that swimming is a go. Probably another week for concrete to harden before we put on diving board. Have reached out to landscaper for final touches.

For 1st time since we filled it I can see the bottom of the deep end! Have robot going overtime trying to help out pool cleaners. After such a long wait I actually think I'll be swimming this weekend!!

Been thinking about what temp to heat pool - I know it's a personal preference. Going to start at 79 and go from there.

I can't remember if I said this to you yet so here goes.....please look in your heater's manual to see what it says about CH. Some heaters say to have xx amount of CH. I can't remember why but there is a valid reason so make sure to look into it.

Swimming this weekend??? SWEET!

So, naturally, a few hours before pool co showed up our power went out in the afternoon - (lots of people lost it in big storm). Had to get out generator and start it, which is a thing but it usually makes the power come back on - nope.

Pool workers (poor guys showed up at 3 and had another job after ours... I get it only so many days you can build - but...) left for another job without finishing our cover. I get it I've been there when there's only so much you can do as a worker. In light of everything else tho, we reached out to pool co and they're handling it today. Feel lucky that they're at least responsive to our concerns, I've read some horror stories and despite everything, still feel lucky we have a PB that will step up.

Salt should be in and cover finished today I hope.

Was in pool this morning - I'm getting soft 80 is chilly!

Heating is on going to try 84 - I looked into it we're good to go in turning it on.

If I get a heater some day it will be set at 85 I think. I've been swimming at 80 but it's not a relaxing swim, more like a refreshing swim. Though laying on a float in 80 degree water is fine.

It's all looking great!!

So after further investigation I'm more of an 89 degree fan :) Diving board goes in tomorrow but not to be used for another week or two until concrete hardens.

Deck jets in action - good for keeping bugs away!!

We put a downward jet in the closest return as it was too close to the intake otherwise. Eyeball jets on the other 2 returns it's really helped the filtering especially on the surface.

We have "pool school" tomorrow and then it's landscapers last turn (equip pad hiding, final grading, use last of boulders, and last touches on retaining wall) and maybe electricians for outlets/lighting - then we should be done. I'm So Very Tired Of Mud. Will post final pics when all is done. This board has been such a help I'm so very grateful I found it. I've learned so much.

Some thing I would have done differently: independent shut-off valves for each return. Moved return away from intake. Managed my PB better. Had work done in late fall. I like the ledge in the pool and wish there were more.

Your water looks great! Glad to see it has all come together. Let the mud end.

Autocover would be amazing cowbell. I curse every time I take my cover off and put it on. Of course the ugly reel makes it easy [emoji849] Wish we had gone for more automation. Wish we had another gate in the pool area. Wish we built in winter not summer. Oh well. Would have could have should have. Doesn’t really matter much now that it’s done.

Just to toss this out- you can add autocovers after the build. The tracks will be on the surface of the deck, but barely noticed. That is what I have. You can sit on top of them on the edge of the pool and never notice.

That’s good to know they can be added afterwards. Not sure we have the space for the concealed cover though as our build is so tight. The end it would need to go at without digging up paving has our pool plumbing. Hmm. Well not like we have the funds right now anyway!

I assure you it's going around! ;)

When we were looking at a free-form pool we were considering tracks in the decking - As YippeeSkippy already pointed out you can barely notice them.

We're trying to figure out if we want to border the whole patio in river rock/somesuch or leave some of the landscaping next to decking. Also one side has drainage issues (of course it's to the equipment pad) so we're trying to decide if we can landscape the drainage issue or if we need a drain - neither is a big deal.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!! I'm already sun burnt - so looking forward to enjoying this summer by the pool!
