Corona, CA Pool Build

Here is the completed equipment pad and automation system. This is my standard layout for most pools and I do it this way every time. Not only is it clean and functional but it integrates with the automation system seamlessly. I try to hide the wiring as much as possible and everything is run through conduit.

I went with all nicheless LEDs for this build (5 in the pool and 2 in the spa). I can't wait to see it lit up.

I threw that fence together as well since it had to be removed for tractor access.

It's a stub for future irrigation lines. The pool equipment ended up where the valves once were and the backyard is mostly concrete now. There will probably only be one valve that will serve the planters in the backyard.

What's your budget for robots? Do you want lots of nerdy features or can you live with a simple "push the button and off it goes" robot?

Doheny's Discovery is on sale right now. It is the bomb.net. Same as Maytronics S200. I love mine. A lot.

More in build thread, link in sig, and a lot more here, Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club - Page 30

Danny wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to Gilligan.

Not sure if the S or M series is better for their pool. They have a huge 12" deep sun shelf. The bot has to be able to clean that AND not get hung up on their submerged bar stools....I'll go get our resident bot expert to go post in your build thread.

I always prefer M series over S series for more complex shapes and features. The dual drive system and extra active brush really makes it the most maneuverable unit around. I would just be a little concerned with the low water level on the shelf causing the unit to think it's out of water, but there should be at least a solid 3 inches of water above the impeller it should be fine.

So now it's time to start picking out the finishes. The homeowners went and saw a pool I did a couple blocks away and liked the deck, coping, stone and tile. Looks like they may go with a similar look.

Here is that pool:

And these are what they picked out:

I really like the bottom one but it's the most expensive of the 3... Typical.

They choose the same deck (plain concrete with an Old Granite stamp) and coping (exposed aggregate canteleivered concrete with slate color added).

They have also been talking pretty seriously about redoing the patio and incorporating a fireplace. Like most builds, budget is becoming a serious concern and my fear is that there won't be any money left over for AquaBright :brickwall: This scenario has played out several times this year and looks like it may happen again.

I'll take them to a few of my other pools so they can see the AB color choices and feel the surface so hopefully that's enough to persuade them to shake the money tree!

In the mean time I'll be trying to finalize the patio design so I can get the plans submitted for another permit :hammer:

Ugh. No AB is no bueno!!!

Maybe you need an educational component to your sales pitch where you explicitly tell them to not shoot the whole budget wad up front and save some Benjamins for the AquaBright. Seems like most people aren't thinking ahead enough. Every phase of the build project has its little upgrades along the way that chew up future dollars. Then you get stuck putting a ho-hum plaster finish on an otherwise beautiful pool.... :brickwall:

It happens everytime. I have enough material on hand to do this pool in a couple of colors so if it's one of the ones they choose I'll probably end up giving it away or just doing pebble :pukel:

I'll take some free AB!!!!

I'll just use my Zippo lighter and all those unused cans of Aquanet hairspray that I've been hauling around with me since the 90's....
