Brand new intellicenter upgrade - not scanning for WiFi.

Hi everyone,

My pool repair technician just installed a brand new intellicenter upgrade kit (model 522048) to replace my prior intellitouch (installed in 2016). The intellicenter upgrade kit was manufactured in 9/2024. It came with a wireless interface bundle, so the technician installed the bundle, which includes the indoor transmitter connected to my router. I eventually got the system to sync with the app, after doing a firmware upgrade.

Outside at the touchscreen, I noticed that the system has a setting to scan for WiFi networks, but it fails to find any local WiFi networks even though there are several with strong signals here. It doesn’t appear to be able to actually scan for the WiFi networks at all. We even tried disconnecting the Ethernet cable (and power to that Ethernet cable), which connects the wireless antenna part of the interface bundle, and then re-scanning. Still nothing.

Basically, it’s a system which is supposed to have the ability to connect to WiFi, and I’d like to know that I could do this if the interface bundle ever failed.

Does anyone know how to get this system to actually scan for wifi networks?

Ignore all things WiFI in the IntelliCenter panel.

Your system uses Pentair’s 900 MHZ wireless link to connect to your home network. It sounds like that is working and you are online.

You can connect to the IntelliCenter through your home network using WiFI although the link between your router and the IntelliCenter uses a different protocol and frequency.

Thank you for your response. I understand the way that it’s presently functioning, and am happy that this works.

I guess the question I’m asking is:

Is there a WiFi radio built into the new Intellicenter systems?
If so, is mine defective, given that it does not scan for any WiFi SSID’s?

No.

Pentair used to supply an EnGenius WiFi Link Kit that acted as a bridge. However, the EnGenius WiFi was found to be unreliable and lost the connection, so Pentair went back to the 900 MHZ Wireless Link it used with other products.
