Bonding the water?

Electrician is stuck with the inspector because they want to see the pool water bonded. This is what I found.

The NEC (National Electrical Code) requires that an intentional electrical bond of a minimum conductive surface of 9 square inches be installed in contact with the swimming pool water.

How is this usually done? Isn’t the pump technically bonding to water?

Pump motor that is bonded is not in contact with pool water.

A bonded light housing can provide the water bond. Otherwise there are water bond devices that can be put in the skimmer.

99,

Maybe that is the inspectors problem...

I had wrongly assumed that your light was the standard 10" round pool light with a metal niche or plastic niche with bonding plate..

My mistake... If that is the only light, then you will have to find a different way to bond the water, like Allen linked to above..

Sorry for the confusion,

Jim R.
