Bleach prices 2013

Hi all,

I was just in Target and they have their store brand Up & Up 8.25% 121oz bleach for sale, buy 3 get 1 free. It's $2.99 each. Comes to $2.24 each.

It's not the greatest but I haven't found anything cheaper around here so I figured I'd share it. (I've just been paying the $2.99)

It was just an in store sale as far as I know. Tags on the shelf. They weren't just for bleach it said something about being for Up & Up products meaning you could mix and match. I didn't look too hard for other items that qualified because I was in it for the bleach. LoL I will probably be in Target later and I will check the tags again. I'm not sure when they expired but I know Target weekly sales usually run Sunday - Saturday so it's possible that tomorrow is the last day. I might have to pick up 4 more if that is the case...

Well I double checked the Target buy 3 get 1 free and it's going on for a long time. The end date on the shelf tag was 9-7! Of course...they only had 2 bottles left! Errrg. Must be other BBBers around here that snatched them all up.

Hopefully they'll have more the next time I'm in so I can pick up another 4.

Wegmans in my area has 4 Gallons of 12.5% for $14.99. This is .23/oz which is good for my area and a lot less jugs to haul.

Just stopped by Ollie's yesterday. Last time I was there they only had algaecide. They have Gallon size 12.5% chlorine "shock" for $2.99. Manufactured on 7/10.
This comes to .18/oz which is the best I have found around here (Rochester, NY)

So just curious....what is generally accepted as a good price-per-ounce for bleach 6% or 8.25%? We've been buying private label from a local grocery store. It's 64oz of 8.25% private label for $1.98-ish.

We have a Supercenter in our town but it's madness going in there. In the next town over, we have a Target and an Aldis. I wouldn't mind driving to either if the math works out (savings minus gas = profit).

1.98/(64*0.825)= $0.37/oz NaClO...not a good price. What constitutes a good price is very regional. Up here in MN I can consistently get it for $0.15/oz NaClO...but in general if you can get in the low 0.20's that is decent nation wide. Look around at some of your big box stores or pool stores for 12.5% or 10% and see if the price is better.

If that next town over isn't too far away, check out Aldi. I'm getting 96 oz of 6% there for $1.29, which works out to about 0.22/oz of Chlorine. Not the greatest price, but the best I can find around here.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Didn't realize I was overpaying for bleach.
We visited the Target nearby tonight and found the BY3GET1 deal which came out to 0.22
So we loaded up the Mini Copper. I confirmed shelf tag says valid through 9/7.

About how many days worth of bleach should the avg BBB'r be buying at a time?
It has expiration dates but they seem petty generous.

Thanks for this. Just picked up the 4 for $9 in Austin. Best deal in Texas for 8.25% (until 9/7/13).

When I buy bleach at a pool store, I typically get these

After I pay a deposit for the jugs and crate. When they are empty, I take them back to the store and get replacements. My last set was a blue crate with blue bottles.

I also get the four-to-a-crate here in PHX at the pool store. Five dollar deposit for the yellow crate and then $3.69 per gallon for HASA 18% liquid chlorine. "Advertised 18 percent, guaranteed 15 percent" or so I'm told.

Dave we are the same here. I just purchased 8 more 96 oz jugs of 6% at Aldi's. Seems to be the best price for our area. Watching for sales here. Our Target does not have that deal and that would be better as it is 8.25%
