Bought a home with a FROG pool - need help 🙃

Yes, but generally I meant, if your backwash wasn't hard piped, and you had a hose, you can see if there was water leaking on filter. That would mean the MPV likely needs a new spider gasket.

Again, it could be a seal/o-ring that is bad, laterals or standpipe that are cracked, or the MPV needs to be rebuilt with new spider gasket.

Tie a sock on the closest return to the pump and see what you get...

I noticed this stain while brushing the pool earlier. I’m going to pick up some vitamin C tabs to see if it’s an iron stain as well as a magic eraser. If it does end up being iron, should I finish SLAM before addressing that or go ahead and deal with it because you’re supposed to bring chlorine levels down anyways for the ascorbic acidIMG_3676.jpeg

If you have flush returns, will be hard. Most are like this and you can tie a string around the knurled edges (or behind on the threads) to hold it on.

I just added the last addition of chlorine for the night. I was able to watch it all day today and checked in every 2 hours. I added a total of 3.6 gallons of 10% liquid chlorine today to maintain 28FC. I’ll do the overnight test again tonight and we’ll see how it looks tomorrow 😅

Edit: also, I was able to get that weird stain off the steps no problem with a magic eraser. The vitamin c tab did nothing

I was able to maintain chlorine levels last night and my CC is good. However, it’s raining pretty hard outside so I can’t see very well to confirm 100% no presence of any dead algae or etc. I think the rain should let up in a few hours and I’ll check it out.

That looks pretty good...hard to tell from video.

Since it is the weekend, I would SLAM 1 more day for insurance.

What was your FC test results from OCLT?

I'd keep it going. With no loss to algae and less UV loss with such crummy weather, the FC should hold well. Or well enough it will only need occasional doses at least.

It won't take much to maintain slam and the insurance will pay dividends for peace of mind.

Appreciate all of the help guys! Enjoy the weekend. I’ll post an update at the end of the day and plan to keep FC at 28 all day. A friend is coming this afternoon to help me scrub the main drains as well

So- before I started this process I had asked the pool guy I had been working with to schedule some time to change out the sand in the filter. He said he’d get back to me on a day…

I just got back from a birthday party, went to check the chlorine levels added my 16oz to top it off and then noticed a pile of sand in one corner of the pool.

I started to do some investigating and noticed a big pile of sand in the corner of my yard and the equipment pad covered in sand. Logical conclusion would be that he came and changed the sand out while I was gone however I never heard anything from him. Last message I have from him was last week that he’d let me know when he could do it.

Besides the fact that I’m pretty sure after some research on this forum, I didn’t need to change the sand in the first place - Is there anything I should watch out for as I’m finishing up the SLAM since this was done? Also, do you think my robot will be able to get the pile of sand in the corner or should I go get a manual vacuum?

I haven’t called or texted him yet. Wanted to check in here first…
