Hi! I am new here to TFP but it comes highly recommended by a coworker. We have had a pool for for nearly 7 years and I have NEVER had things get out of control like they are now. For 2 weeks now I have been fighting things. First things started off cloudy and some algae. I took my water to be tested and the CYA was over 100 which from what I have learned means my FC needs to be higher than normal when this is the case. Long story short after $550 worth of chemicals in the past 2 weeks and 1 flocking treatment here I am. I did an algae treatment this past weekend but the pool was still cloudy. The people at the pool place convinced me to flock it. They said that the particles still present in the pool were to small for our sand filter and this was the only way to clear it up. Yesterday evening I began vacuuming the residue on the bottom to waste, before I could vacuum it all the water level was too low and we had to add water and let it settle again. We vacuumed again this morning and seems we have been successful at removing all the flock and residue but now our pool is turning green again I believe for 2 reasons. 1) The pump and filter have been off for almost 48 hours now and we have added so much well water from vacuuming so much to waste that it looks like our pool did when we first installed it. I have always brought the water to be tested but I most definitely feel like I have been given the run around the past 2 weeks. I ordered a Taylor K1515A Drop Test / FAS DPD Test but it will not be here until Sunday. What should I do in the meantime? I turned the pool back to filtration and turned on the chlorinator. I want to convert to liquid bleach instead of shock. Please help.....
