Hello, I am brand new to the world of pools! This March we started off the season with upgrading our sand filter, draining the pool, giving it a nice bleach bath then refilling. Since then, it has been a hassle keeping it swimmable. We have a great guy who tends to it weekly but we cannot figure out whats different. Our pool turned fluorescent green, now we cant even go 3/4 days without algae and spots showing up. We rub chlorine tablets directly to the spots, nothing. We shock? Nothing. I will be purchasing water testing strips to extend my own knowledge but there is a large corner that is missing tile and looks “rusty”; am I crazy for thinking this could be a cause?

Welcome to TFP!!!

The first foundation of TFP is do your own testing. Strips won't cut it. Get one of the recommended test kits. Link-->Test Kits Compared

Without a proper test kit, we will be shooting in the dark, and could do more harm than good.

I'd post your issues and the pictures of the tiles and corner in a new thread in the "everything else" forum to get eyes on it.
