A Houston Pool Build Inside the Loop

Kim, I know! I was sooooo excited to be the first one to do this! It truly is a "Smurfy" pool!

Oh, I ordered him from Amazon...where else?! He is pretty cute!

Marian, the water is clear on the steps but not in the deeper part. I really don't think there is much plaster dust left. But, I can see the change in color and clarity from fill day.

Playing catch up with my posting after working all weekend. I peeked on your thread all weekend and yesterday but as just too tired to type :)

Your pool looks amazing!! The color is perfectly smurfy!!!! Love your little mascot!
Marla, yours came together SO FAST!!! It seems like a whirlwind! I'm thrilled for you! Can't wait to see it all clear in the deep end like it is on the steps.
Have you been sitting out there everyday? It's so elegant and tranquil looking, I would hardly be in the house :)

Glad the Smurf was a hit!
Pool service performed today by the PB pool service company. They will maintain pool for 2 months (but I will be testing too!). Here are their numbers:
FC. 0.5
pH. 7.8
TA. 50
CH 130
CYA 30
Filter psi 20

This is what they used.
1 lb Cal Hypo (shock)
1 lb calcium chloride
1 lb Stabilizer
3" Chlor tablet

So how long should I wait before I can test? Any issues?

Yeah, just start testing and treating tomorrow. That is what we did -- I wasn't interested in pulling out our test kit at the time. We subsequently had to increase calcium hardness, total alkalinity, pH, CYA and chlorine. Its hard for me to fathom that he thought everything was OK when he left, considering what it took to bring things to TFP standards >> 29 lbs calcium chloride, 11 lbs baking soda, etc. However, once things got the right levels, its been easy-peasy to maintain with shots of muriatic acid and bleach.

I've played around with PoolMath some, but how do I know what my target numbers should be? I'm not sure if when I was messing with it a few months ago if I changed any of the target numbers. Is there any way to reset PoolMath?

Or should I just use the lowest goal number as a target? That way if it misses I could still be within range.

Pool School - Recommended Levels

Use the chart----------just know they are suggestions........every pool is different..........some like their TA at XX and some like it at YY. Your PH will hold steady AFTER the plaster cures when you find your pool's TA.

I would shoot for the higher level for the FC until you see how it goes day to day.

Keep a log and include weather conditions so you can start to see any patterns.

You can change any numbers in Pool Math you want to. It will "stick" until you clear your "cookies".

Make sure to go down to the bottom and change it to "Trouble Free Pool" for the setting.

Kim

Thanks! Newbie still!

Here are my numbers from this morning. It was overcast and had rained last night.

FC 43 (did this twice, had to put in 86 drops to turn it back to clear!)
CC 1
CH 300
TA 120
CYA 40 I actually did this twice and got the same number!
pH 7.8

So why is my FC so high?
