I really doubt that is the answer... I run my pump at about 1200 rpm about an 1/8th of a HP... at that speed the filter pressure is only 2 lbs. so if your theory was correct I'd never be able to push water through Pentair 520 filter...

I would be looking elsewhere... If your water drains back into the pool when you turn the pump off, you have an air leak some where... Remember when you were a kid and you'd stick your thumb over a straw in a glass of water..? When your removed the straw the water stayed in the straw until you took you thumb off the end... Your pump and filter operate the same way.. no air in, no water out...

I have a 3 HP pump and when it primes it does not suck all the water out of the skimmer like yours is doing. The only way it can suck out more water than what comes in is if your weir door is stuck up...

Skimmer flap is the Canadian Term. lol



I have 2 brand new Jandy checks in the shop. One before the pump would prevent all that water in the filter from flowing back into the pool when the pump turns off. Also, saving the pump from having to fill the filter too.

What you guys think?
 
Getting there. One nice day and all mechanical will be done. We will have heat. Extremely close to being ready for the concrete deck too but no hurry for that. I kinda dont mind enjoying the pool for a month or so before that is done.

I meant a month or so to enjoy the deck! Enjoy the pool NOW!

That is some awesome circulation for the water! Now go throw a ping pong ball or such in there and see just how good it is.

I did not see the broom in the skimmer box..............what did you do to fix it? (guessing took the whole door out/off)
