2018: Fiberglass install uxbridge ointario

So I have a foot of water in the pool. No backfill.
I suspect the original problem was not as much settling but as we filled the deep end, the shallow end rose up and HPB flowed underneath.

As of now I have taken measurements around the perimeter with the Zip Level and written the measurement on the coping with a sharpie.

It's hard to take a really accurate reading because as I've illustrated in the below pic, some of the coping is level, some tilts towards the pool and so tilts away from the pool. I made the drawing drastic so you could visualize it.

As of now, I have a 1/2" accuracy from end to end and side to side. Many places are 0, some are 1/4" and the worst is -1/2.

And benny hill would be perfect. lol

As a warning to other self installers I would suggest that these huge fiberglass vessels have so much flex and give to them. It would not be unreasonable to suspect when stacked with other pools, strapped to transport trucks and driven thousands of miles that the pool could show up on site with a slight twist in them. I would not backfill until there is some water weight in them. The manufacturer says up to the bottom of the first step but that leaves the deep end with thousands of pounds and the shallow end nothing.

I can’t get Benny Hill theme song out of my head!

Awesome use of machine time. Will PM you on machine rentals and rates.

Did you end up using Portland on the bed?

So how did the base look when you pulled the pool?

Yes I spread 2 bags of Portland as a binding agent and it allowed the HPB to be compacted but will still be great for drainage.

Couldn't see the base when we pulled pool because backfill flowed in as the pool came up.

Snowing here today and cold for the next week at least. highs of 5c and -5 at night.
Back yard is a muddy mess. All I did today was drill holes for the 2 returns and 2 lights. Can't even install them as it is too cold for silicone and PVC glue. This is a step I need to finish so I can finish backfill. I may tent those areas tomorrow and have a space heater running so I can move forward.

I did the return jets and pal lighting today. Not much else going on. I need to get a skid steer in here and bring in the last bunch of gravel to finish pool backfill and prepare concrete base. The back corner has to come up 16" so I'm gonna need 2 full truck loads to finish. 20mm of rain forecasted for tomorrow so Its will have to wait.

Quick and not so exciting video on my work from today.

Oh I like those Pal lights. Look easy to work on-nice.

When do you think you will get the skid there?

Kim:kim:

I did a ton of research on lights. Some need a external housing and require a 6" hole. These were the best I could find for my application and replacement bulbs are not unreasonable. 2.5" hole, same as my jets. easy as pie.
Android or Apple app connectivity. :)

I will order the skid steer for Wednesday probably pending weather. I have already had one neighbour complain to the city so I wanna get the road cleaned up asap.

we call em mafia blocks here in new jersey :)

looking good brother glad you got it out and reset the way you want it. years ago I helped a good friend put a 14x28 fiberglass in and we had same problem, it was out in 2 spots and it was the fiberglass cast, the way we worked around it was to install the paver coping level and build it up with mud to level it, was less than 3/4" in those spots. He did tile at waterline, you never saw it or noticed it you rly had to look hard at night to tell comparing water to tiles.

What mafia— there is no mafia...

We had one neighbor like that too when we built ours last year. We just laughed. All the different town/ bylaw vehicles would come by and drive real slow. A few came half way up the driveway until they saw the permit in the window. I cleaned the street every night but there is always one person that has to be a jerk. We just laugh now when everyone else on the street is over swimming and they never get invited...

This week looks terrible. I am soooooo close.... Give me some good weather!!!
