I have a vinyl in ground pool. This particular one usually is above ground but can be buried. My question is, which closure procedure do I follow? In ground or above ground? I am thinking In ground but I wanted to be sure as this is my first closure with this pool. Thank you!

Hmm -- you are not in a deep freeze area. I think others in your general area never close their pool. Just need a freeze protect on your pump.

I would like to put the cover on before too long. I don't want to maintain it during the winter. Is that not the same as closing it? This is all new to me. I appreciate the help!

I think you will have to add some chlorine during the winter and circulate the pool equipment to freeze protect. I do not think it will be viable to cover and forget in your climate.
