I am trying to understand my pool’s plumbing. When my pool was closed for the winter two years ago (I didn’t open my pool last summer), I believe that the three grey inground pipes (see photo) all had their caps unscrewed and removed. Yesterday I removed the cap on the far left pipe and nothing happened. Next I removed the cap on the far right pipe and water gushed out. I screwed that cap in as I was afraid that not doing so would result in the emptying of my pool. Nite that the pipes are located down a hill, about 30 feet from the pool, and are about 8 feet below the top level of the pool. The other photo shows the above ground piping next to the three parallel in ground pipes.
Thank you for your thoughts,
Michael

Miguel, you are missing your equipment which I drew in to make it clearer the way the water flows.

I also labeled A through D the four plugged pipes and 1 through 3 the three shutoff valves you have.

Now please explain using those markings what you did.
