Welcome to TFP! Is that open end of the pipe the one that goes to the drain? I'm assuming that realistically your drain isn't too far below ground level depending on if your pool is even partially sunk-in or not right? I suspect that drain line is probably still above your MI frost line, so you want to clear out as much water as possible. What kind of blower or Vacuum are you using to clear the lines?
You won't be able to keep most of the water out of the main drain pipe unless you plug it.
The drain pipe is likely pretty shallow under the pool, which is fine beacuse it's 4ft + 'deep' whether it's covered with dirt or water. The outside part, past the blue line is the one susceptible to freezing. You cannot airlock it because water can enter the drains and push the air out to fill the horizontal pipe. The only part you are able too air lock is the 'down pipe' under the valve to the 1st 90.
You can't add antifreeze because it will be a geyser when you open that valve. Even if you could, it would ooze out the open drain side anyway.
You have 3 options
1) install a blow through valve in the main drain and blow the pipe
2) plug the main drain and snake a hose down the pipe to suck it dry with a shop vac
3) let it be because nobody else goes through all that trouble for your setup. If they blow it, they do so not knowing it won't help.
