What do you recommend to flush water lines for winter closing?

I plan to close my pool myself this season. What do people recommend to clear the water lines? I get the impression that air volume is more important than pressure. Is there a pump folks would recommend that does the job of blowing out the lines efficiently?

Should FC ever be added after adding Polyquat 60 when closing the pool?

Is there an ideal level that FC should be at after adding polyquat 60? I added the Polyquat 60 when the FC was at 1/2 slam level and will let the pool motor run for 24 hours. I have read that you should not adjust the FC after adding Polyquat 60. I am just wondering how stringently this rule...

Water level for closing my Coleman rectangular steel-frame pool

Hi all! I will be winterizing my above-ground Coleman rectangular steel-frame pool (22 x 12 feet) for the first time this winter (normally I would take it down and set it back up but it's a lot of hassle and a lot of $$ getting it refilled every year). My biggest hmm-haw is what should I bring...

Looking for *objective* advice on closing salt water pool

I was looking for a recommended blog or something that gives advice on closing my pool for winter, but all I could find are influencers who wanted me to buy stuff. Blowing out Skimmer & Main Drain with Check Valve

Hi all - been using the TFP methodology this year and it's been wonderful - have saved a lot of money. I have a question about pool closing, however. Pool pump died when closing

My pool pump died right before I added the polyquat 60. I just need to add that and blow out the lines to close the pool. The water is clear and was at SLAM levels. I would rather not buy a pump right now, the last one I bought in 2017 was $350 the same one now is $700. The front seal cracked...

    Cleaning cover before closing

When I opened my pool at the beginning of the season, I had an algae problem which might have been mustard algae? I wasn't sure and just treated it that way with directions from this site. The water cleared up and the pool has been running clear all summer (Thanks TFP!). Now that I'm getting...

    Closing

About time to close, but CYA is about 110-115 due to the crappy chemicals from the pool store

I found troublefreepool and the pool math app after I had already gone a month into maintaining our new 27' x 54" AGP using the chemicals purchased from the company that sold us the pool. Even just a month in, the CYA had climbed to above 60. I was still trying to figure out how everything for...

Closing in-ground pool that eats CYA?

Just wrapping up the third summer with my pool. I’ve always had trouble with CYA disappearing. Apparently it is susceptible to whatever baddie that turns CYA into Ammonia.
