Finally replaced my batteries in the Speed Stir. It was still working but the magnetic stir bar was flopping around like a fish out of water. New batteries and it's spinning well again.

Yesterday, dog executed a baby rabbit in the yard. A few frowns from my youngest. Today, pulled a dead baby rabbit out of the pool over lunch time. Actually the kids fished it out with the leaf rake. No tears. They must have heard me using choice words about rabbit holes in the yard...

Ran my R2 unit twice in the pool to get up the last of the dirt and worms still on the bottom. Yuck on emptying the filters on the first run... Water looking great but cold. Have been trying to get 3 pounds of CYA to dissolve all week. Almost all dissolved. Must not be really soluble at 60...

Lost 3 FC today. Back up to about 12. Added some CYA in a sock. Water pretty clear until I stir up all the dirt on the bottom. Pressure on filter slowly rising. Backwash tomorrow when it's not raining. Might try the robot tomorrow too but he's never real motivated to climb walls when the water...

Opening day. Spring rains drove hundreds of worms into my main drain. Disgusting pump basket full of them when I got the pump running. Lots of dirt. 0 FC made me nervous... Still have 20 ppm CYA though so that's good. Bumped FC to 10 ppm. We'll see how that holds and how long it takes the dirt...

Noticed that my solar cover storage protocol this winter was insufficient... wrapping came off and entire end of cover is tattered from wind damage. Guess I'll be getting a new solar cover! Good thing I got two years out of the last one and only sprung for the cheap-o 8 mil. Time to shop around...

I may have to do that too... Thinking of relocating our hot tub which is now smack dab in the middle of our deck near the pool. I think we'd like to have the whole deck for grilling, lounging, etc. Will need lots of wood to rebuild the deck!

Hovering right at 60 now... was going to close this last weekend but got lazy... Amazing how fast it has cooled off in the last weeks without a solar cover and the cool (50 degrees or less) night temperatures. I might have to take one last dip just to say I did it.
