CC measurement after Slamming my pool

No, this testing is accurate up to a FC of i believe 50.

Overnight test results and plan? SLAM?

Can you post a picture? Were you having any algae prior to SWG?

    CYA dropped significantly.

This is absolutely true, I just didnt want someone to read this and assume that adding CYA has no effect on other levels.

    CYA dropped significantly.

Just want to point out, the dry stabilizer will effect his pH as well
  5. JimMarshall

    CYA dropped significantly.

If you have trichlor or dichlor shock you can certainly use them to increase your FC while increasing CYA as well. However either way there is no need to interrupt the slam. Add CYA using the sock method while continuing to SLAM as usual

Second year, I have mystery algae in the vacuum hose.

I can walk into a store right now and buy an iPhone 7 too, doesn't mean it isn't outdated. She wasn't implying that it is old, the implication is that with the advances in robotic cleaners, suction/pressure side cleaners that require a pump to run have become obsolete.

    Algae on thermometer string?

Is there any way to prevent algae from growing on the string that holds my thermometer? It only occurs right at/around the waterline.

    Green pool!!!!!

I ask because 20 lbs of dichlor will add 60 ppm CYA to that pool. Add in continued tablet use and I find 40 PPM CYA to not be a believable number. If you’re keeping the pool at shock level per the cya, the algae will die. Period. Something isn’t adding up here, and in my opinion it’s the testing...

I’m questioning the CYA test more than the FC test.

    Dead algae

As stated, you can add the missing tests for the time being, or replace the kit entirely with the TF 100 (my recommendation) the money you save following the TFP method will more than pay for the test kit.

Is a little algae to be expected?

This is what I was getting at as well. Kathy, perhaps consider taking your next chlorine sample from one of the areas where the algae forms in addition to the area where you usually draw your sample and see if there is a significant discrepancy.

Is a little algae to be expected?

What shape is your pool and how many returns do you have? Does the algae you are seeing consistently form in the same areas?

Clear water ... until I brush!

FC is essentially at the minimum required to keep your algae from getting any worse but won’t make a lot of headway to fight it. PH - as said before don’t trust that number unless you can replicate it with a drop test or calibrate the probe. TA: High but all that means is that your pH is going...

Is this algae? Noticed in on my steps.

Your CYA is 18? How are you testing? 18 is below the threshold of available testing accuracy. We recommend 30 PPM CYA for a because you want enough CYA to keep your FC from just straight burning off in the sun, but we need to make sure you’re getting accurate readings and have accounted for...

Is this algae? Noticed in on my steps.

You don't want to raise your CYA until you complete a SLAM.

    Safe Swimming in cloudy pool

While we want you to be able to clearly see the bottom of your pool so you can say you’ve got awesomely clear TFP water, no one would deny that, the true name of the game is safety. Drowning doesn’t look like someone splashing about like the movies make it seem. You must be able to CLEARLY see...

Re: Walmart "Pool Essentials 10% Chlorinating Liquid" - Anyone else not able to find This is what they replaced it with at my store back in late June when they quit carrying it. I’m like, :brickwall::brickwall: those tubs would take up a lot less shelf room if they were displayed...

Re: Walmart "Pool Essentials 10% Chlorinating Liquid" - Anyone else not able to find I had lost all hope in Walmart but after jstblush’s post, I decided to take a walk to the garden section while I was there today ordering a birthday cake for my son’s (pool) party this weekend. Still green....SLAM'ing help

Just to expand on what Kim said, a lot of us have a second set of cartridges for cleaning so we can just swap them out, start the pool back up, and then clean the dirty ones.

    Still green....SLAM'ing help

Can you post a current picture of the pool? One with the steps or a vacuum head in it for a clarity reference? And a picture of your equipment pad? Have you inspected your cartridges for any damage? Are you sure that you’re reassembling the filter correctly?

    Still green....SLAM'ing help

Veccster, the High FC causes artificially high pH reading as Marty stated. Do you have full test results? When is the last time you broke down your filter and cleaned the cartridges? What is your current filter pressure vs your clean filter pressure?

Newly filled, green from algae, chemical question

Get 30 PPM of CYA in there and away! CH is irrelevant in a vinyl pool. With a 7.5 pH TA isn't going to be an immediate concern either.

    Still green....SLAM'ing help

I would run your pump on high veccster, or at least speed 4. Will increase your electric bill a bit but you want to keep that water moving.
