What do you do when you go on vacation?

Like many of you folks, I am headed out on vacation soon. I am leaving for a full 5 days. Besides contracting the kids next door (which I might do), what do you folks do to keep your pool from being a mess with no upkeep? Do you just dump a whole ton of chlorine in it? Do you switch to tabs? Do...

R-0871-A -E what are the differences.

So I was looking for a good deal on testing reagents as im getting low (and I messed up and left them out in the sun today, first day ever). I was low on the R 0871 and the R 0013 and noticed when I googled that there were different ones or at least sort of different ones. -A - C - E. I think...

    Found a bucket of DiChlor

Hey so quick question. There is a cup in the DiChlor but those OZ are fluid OZ correct, not weight OZ. I struggle to figure out how much stuff weighs without a scale.

    Overnight loss test question

Sounds good. I think then pool math needs to be updated because it also shows 3-7 and I go off of that. Also all my numbers are good so I'm not too worried but it could be confusing for a novice.

    Found a bucket of DiChlor

Thanks this is what I was looking for. After some evap and water add I'm down a bit on CYA (approx 35) and I need to add chlorine so about a lb of DiChlor will get me to where I want to be all around. Thanks!

    Found a bucket of DiChlor

Back 3 years ago when my pool was put in a got a whole bunch of chemicals from my builder. I gave the tabs to my friend but just found a 25lb bucket of DiChlor in there. Was thinking about selling it since I use liquid chlorine only but I could use it to boost my CYA if needed, correct? If so...

    Overnight loss test question

The chart shows 3-7 is optimal range. I typically pump it up once it gets there to 7 and let it get to 3 and rinse repeat. If it's too low it shouldn't be the minimum, no?

    Overnight loss test question

It was a hot sunny day today in upstate NY. 86 and pool had sun from 10am to 6pm. Last night I took my measurement and it said 2ppm and since my my CYA is 40 (14kGallon pool) I needed to add. I put in enough chlorine to get me to 7ppm but didn't test. A full 24 hours later, after about 3-4 hours...

Pool math/SLAM numbers screwy/swimming while slamming

Good to know. Also that PH level was tested before I slammed so it is accurate (well maybe not so accurate as in the middle of SLAMMING yesterday I got about 1.5 inches of thunderstorm water). Im going to get it to 28 now and when my kids will get home from school it will be under slam level...

Pool math/SLAM numbers screwy/swimming while slamming

Using Pool Math app to keep my pool in check and need to SLAM to keep algae haze at bay. Getting conflicting numbers. CYA 70 TA 70 pH 7.5 All day yesterday my pool math app said SLAM level of 28 so I got it up to 28 over night (4ppm loss and still a bit of haze left so not out of the woods...

Help! Cloudy Water, good numbers, couldnt sleep over this, need to use pool today!

At my cya level to get to 14 is 100oz so it's a bit more than a little but somethings amiss. I do agree that more cholorine is likely the answer but the only thing I changed was adding the baking soda. Trying to keep it simple.

Help! Cloudy Water, good numbers, couldnt sleep over this, need to use pool today!

Thanks so get it up to about 14? Do you think it could be the baking soda not mixing correctly causing the cloudiness? I did read that baking soda could temporarily cause cloudiness but it took about a day to show up.

Help! Cloudy Water, good numbers, couldnt sleep over this, need to use pool today!

Ok first of all, I put in a pool last year and quickly became a TFP disciple. It has allowed me to keep a crystal clear pool and when I see other peoples cloudy pool because I know their pool is not properly balanced it bothers me. Im stumped on this one. Opened my pool this year and SLAMmed...

CC test turns pink after sitting

Hey sorry so I was given those dreaded Tri-Chlor tabs and used them for awhile which is why my CYA is high. It is a TFT test and its probably closer to 70 than 80 (I said 75 as I made it more robust just in case). I wasnt able to tell if it was slippery today brushing (it was cold after 2 days...

CC test turns pink after sitting

So I was doing my CC test and counted backwards and I got to 2 drops (need to SLAM) and swirled it around and it went clear. It sat for a few seconds and so I recorded it. While I was doing my TA test, I noticed the CC vial was turning pink again. Is this normal? Thanks for the info. Just got...
