Small suction leak? / pump drain plug issue

So use silicon seal as opposed to silicon lube? Also, with the head of plug off and stem stuck in pump, how else could I remove other than drilling? This happened on my spa jet pump too. I am afraid it might happen again elsewhere. I have 4 pumps/.8 plugs

Small suction leak? / pump drain plug issue

I have a Superpump housing on my spa pump. I recently upgraded the pump to variable speed (V-green) and notices a few air bubbles in the pump window at slow speed especially. I went to check the drain plugs and the one on the side broke off when I went to remove it. I drilled it out and...

    DE waste to drywall?

Good news. Finally set the Intelliflo pump to maximum rate of 2800 and got it not to prime all the time so its flowing at 2350 to DE tank now. And tank pressure stays under 20 psi - does not seem to be a drainage issue. I was prepared to run 2" pipe from the tank to another location, but...

    Question on pipe sizing

Thanks. But doesn’t the narrowing of 100% of the water flow from 2 inch to 1.5 inch act as a flow limiting step for everything (like a rate limiting step in chemistry)? I had a feeling you answer would be the correct one, but I am not sure why?

    Question on pipe sizing

I have a pretty large pool that was built in 2000, originally with 1.5 inch pipe. When I resurfaced the pool in 2011, among other things, I replaced all of the 1.5 inch plumbing with 2 inch. All new piping was installed from the skimmers and returns to the equipment pad, and all piping at the...

    Pinhole leak at Hayward pump

Another thought. Might I have overtighten seal plate and caused a hairline crack I don’t see? Can buy replacement for less than $40 on Amazon- might make more sense to try that before swapping seal itself.

    Pinhole leak at Hayward pump

I opened up pump today, and applied new lube to the impeller gasket and to the seal plate gasket. Pump still leaking from bottom. Is It worth it for me to try replacing the seal once again? This leak started when I put last seal in a week ago. Definitely a different problem than the initial...

Stuck or fused Lasco 2" PVC union

I am going to replace that unit with a CMP union like I have done on most of my other pool pumps and equipment (ordered yesterday on Amazon). No need to wait for it to get very stuck again. Its lived 13 years or so - I got my money's worth. And I'll use a 2.5-2 inch coupling to keep the Jandy...

Channel lock did it this am. Many thanks

Stuck or fused Lasco 2" PVC union

I replaced the seal on my pump last week and the seal plate still has a small drip. I wanted to remove the pump and relubricate the connections, but I cannot disconnect one of the PVC unions connecting the pump itself. Any magic tricks to getting a stuck union to unfuse? It opened fine last...

    DE waste to drywall?

About two weeks ago. I completely tore it down and washed the grids with a hose getting 100% of the DE off all of them. It was clean then I am sure. Before I cleaned the heater would not operate at 2800 either - needed 3300. So it got better, but still not what it used to be. And I hosed...

    DE waste to drywall?

I just spoke to the builder who did the house originally in 2000. He says well would be underground and not in survey because it could not be seen. He remembers the house but not the details of the project and says his records are gone (and doubts the subcontractor would have records either)...

    DE waste to drywall?

Could I have issue with impeller on pump? Pump is from 2011. Heater too. And my returns in the pool don't look as powerful as prior years at any given pump speed.

    DE waste to drywall?

JamesW : I could lower the top speed as you suggest, but that speed is not enough to keep my pool heater from generating a Hi Limit 2 error. I find at 2500, the heater gives error message. At 2800, it works like a charm. Last year it worked at 2500 but not this season.

    DE waste to drywall?

The folks who did the replaster certainly did not install the pool drywell. I am in touch with them and they swear they just used the existing waste pipe - and that makes sense since shed was already built there. No one ever had a problem with it (that they mentioned) until this year when I...

    DE waste to drywall?

Septic company called me back after looking at the survey. They are certain that its such a code violation to pump pool waste into septic system that its almost impossible to be the case (they are coming Monday to pump my house septic anyway, I am long overdue). They referred me to a pool...

    DE waste to drywall?

I have septic guys coming out this afternoon and I will report what they find. I think I need to figure out where that waste line went and fix it. And my home's main septic is due for a pumping regardless. Whatever drainage system is being used was the original from when the house was built...

    DE waste to drywall?

Thanks everyone. As I read this and think about it, another concern occurred to me. I went to my survey to look for the drywell by or under the shed and I dont see it. What I do see is a septic system for the pool house. Might the waste from the DE have been flowing to and now clogging the...

    DE waste to drywall?

Is there a way to access the drywall without moving the shed (a big job that will required digging part of my lawn)? My landscaper who manages my drainage issues didn't think it was necessary, but hard to say without testing. The only think draining there is the waste lien from the DE tank, so...

    DE waste to drywall?

Opened tank and sock had lots of DE in it. The only way I get local control is to disconnect the RS-485 communication cable from the side of the pump. Otherwise I use my iPhone Jandy iAqualink. But this always starts with a full speed prime. I believe I can disconnect the cable and then...

    DE waste to drywall?

Possible that drywall is still clogged, but I dont think so. Seems to drain fine last week when tested. Only speculating since I have not opened up to check, but hypothesis is that back-up occurred when I was backwashing multiple times/day clearing out the plaster dust. Drywall is in sand...

    DE waste to drywall?

So I got my tank set up today. I installed on 8 inch concrete blocks so the water would drain from the tank. But the first use did not go without issue. Let me explain and maybe someone can tell me what I did wrong (if anything). 1) Piped the waste line from DE filter to inlet of Pentair DE...

Is there a way to raise a skimmer in a concrete pool?

Please ignore this thread. It turns out the collar just sits inside the skimmer very low, but there is no crack or leaking there. My skimmer itself is leaking though - I am going to put this in its own thread.

Is there a way to raise a skimmer in a concrete pool?

Actually, in looking at my pictures from last year, I think they may have shoved the collar down too far inside the skimmer. I wonder if they cracked it in the process? The round piece comes down much lower than it should based off the Hayward stock photos I see on the web and in the link above.

Is there a way to raise a skimmer in a concrete pool?

I have an in ground spa, just refinished and I had the concrete resealed around the skimmer box as it was leaking last year. As I have my pool working for the season, I noticed that it is still leaking. Further investigation revealed that the water level is hitting the top of the skimmer...

    DE waste to drywall?

I guess I could put the separation tank on bricks and try to work the drainage that way.

    DE waste to drywall?

I have the separation tank and am getting ready to install (Pentair). My only question is about the drainage lines. Waste from the DE filter goes into the tank at its top and there is a waste line at the tank's bottom that I will send to the dry well (its the closest drainage spot, and I...

    Pinhole leak at Hayward pump

Is there a lubricant I should or should not be using? I have been using Magic Lube (PTFE)? I have read conflicting info. Also how best to clean surfaces? Prior leak was from middle of right side of seal plate. Now leak on on bottom side of seal plate. I am pretty sure its leaking at the...

    Pinhole leak at Hayward pump

I replaced the seal plate gasket yesterday (as well as the shaft seal and the complete gokit package). The pinhole leak on the side from my photo is corrected, but I developed a new leak from the other side - same area. Any ideas how to correct? Should I try to just re-lube and rebuild?

    DE waste to drywall?

Any reason to have a valve between the DE filter waste line and the separation tank, or between the tank and the runoff (which I will send to the dry well I had been using for DE)? I read somewhere online recommending one, but the instructions (Pentair) did nto mention and it seems to me...
