Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Thanks for posting all the wonderful pictures. Glad you and your family are enjoying your pool and addressing the remaining problems. I know what you're going through as I have my own Punch List and PB back to his old slow routine again after his vacation. When considering your Robot don't...

Las Vegas Build - It's like butter

Thanks. Another good thing about being GC. You pay the subs directly. I pay the PB and have to wait for Lien Releases. I'm 99% built, 90% paid and only 70% Lien Releases.

Las Vegas Build - It's like butter

One thing I noticed is the the plumbing coming from the drains to the pump suction inlet. The installation instructions for my Pentair XF22005 Pump "recommends" 5x the pipe size for the distance from the elbow to the pump. My Circulation pump has 2.5" plumbing and about 12" so is ok. But my...

Re: New Frisco, TX Pool Build Updated 7/26 Gunite Complete The Shell looks real good. Looks very large comparing to my 35'x14'. Might be the Spa which I now wish I had room for. What are the dimensions of the pool? Hope they move along to plaster quickly now. I had to wait over 3 months and...

    New Pool - Orlando Florida

I'm relieved that there will be no confrontation with PB. "All's well that ends well" I have to deal with him for the warranties but hope I won't need him. :gone: Didn't seem like it would ever get done. We have to overlook the minor flaws and enjoy our pools. Everyone was right visitors don't...

    New Pool - Orlando Florida

PB back from vacation and made a surprise visit late yesterday afternoon. I told him about Zero CYA after he added a gallon of granules. He said it definitely was Cyanauric Acid that he added not Calcium or Sequestrant. So still a mystery where it went, but I'm thinking about it again and PB...

    New Build in Katy, TX

Congratulations Tommy  That is one good looking pool with the spa, rocks and waterfall all blending in and complimenting each other. Keep us up to date with the rest of the start-up, brushing and balancing. BTW my PB was just here and he will change the deck jets over to the feature...

    New Build in Katy, TX

I originally requested that bubblers and deck jets be on the feature pump and selected and a second 3hp VS Pentair XF22005 pump. PB said they should be on the circulation pump as he said there wouldn't be enough power to run anything but 3 sheers. I agreed to the bubblers on the circulation...

    Another in Texas - Cypress

Had been finding very small frogs in pool every day and I have the screened cage. Don't know how they're getting in unless they are getting though the overflow in skimmer tied in to the french drains. I corked it yesterday and today was first day without any casualties.

    New Pool - Orlando Florida

Thanks again everyone for all the compliments and wishes. Pool is balanced & running ok and have been swimming and brushing everyday. Almost 100 degrees but a delightful 86 degrees under the screen cage in the pool. It's still only 2 weeks from the start-up tomorrow but will test "Little Joe"...

I have areas like that too most noticeable on the sunshelves, steps and swimout corners. They seem to be improving with the 2 weeks of brushing I've been doing but are still there.

Your pool turned out beautiful. Enjoy! The plaster is outstanding and I wish I had chosen a darker color too. Glad you were able to get in there swim until the water got cloudy. I did the same and when water cleared been in everyday. Sure is delightful with the close to 100 degree temps. Pool...

Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Pool looks fantastic with water and glad you were able to "swim". I was in heaven too that first time I went in. Hard to believe it will be 2 weeks tomorrow since my start-up. How long did PB tell you to brush? I've been brushing twice a day and running the pump 24 hrs. I cut that back to 8 hrs...

    New Pool - Orlando Florida

It's 14 days from fill. I just gave it a test and watched carefully that it didn't get stuck. PB and plasterer said pebble finish won't be damaged by robot but I'll wait another 2 weeks before putting it into full use.

Glad to see you're up and running including the sheers. Looking great. How long did they tell you to brush? I'm over a week of brushing 2x per day now. Got the Doheny Discovery today and gave it a test. Worked right out of the box. Only problem it got stuck under the rail by the steps. Might...

Got my Doheny Discovery (Maytronics Dolphin S200i) Pool Robot today and testing it now. Worked right out of the box. Only problem is it got stuck under the rail by the stairs. It might have cleared itself but I rescued it. Named it Little Joe 'Dirt'

Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

I agree 100% PB told me same thing and added when owner gets involved the price will go up. Also at the very beginning I contacted the engineer with a question after my request to the PB that the engineer contact me was ignored. I got a nasty email from the PB " don't you ever call any of my...

Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Congratulations :cheers:you're finally getting plastered. Looks like an excellent pro crew. Even were there 5:30 am. Protecting everything with dropcloths, plastic & tape. Ready to acid wash. And I'm sure your startup will follow immediately after the fill, not like mine 4 days later. Looking...

Mine took about 37 hrs to fill with 5/8" hose. Your pool is 50% larger so figure 48 hrs or less with the 3/4" hose you mentioned. Looks really great. You will be happy when it's filled and hopefully your PB will do the startup ASAP.

Pool Design Help - Treasure Coast, FL

I've been brushing everyday but the corners still have excess plaster. Question about the Dolphin S300i. Do you have it ordered or were able to test it in another pool? How do you like it? I ordered the Doheny Discovery which is the same as the S200i with a few of the s300i features like the...

Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

Nini, I'm so sorry to hear about the new problems after all you've been through. It's not easy building a pool but at least you have a PB that you can talk to and reason with. Not like mine. It will all work out and you will be swimming in your beautiful pool very soon. :paddle:

I'll let the CYA rise slowly by using up some of the tablets. No more than CYA 60 until I get the SWG then it can go to 80. Raining - no sun so can't do CYA test yet. Water is crystal clear.

I have no confidence in my PB's advice when he returns. With what I have learned from TFP I think I'm doing ok. I added 12oz. of acid this afternoon and here are my latest test results this evening. All are from the TF-100 Testkit except CYA is an estimate based on approx 10 pucks dissolved at...

Thanks. I've already read the New Plaster/Acid Startup plus everything I could find in old threads and online about Acid Startup. I've concluded what I got was the Acid Startup after the pool sat with water for 4 days, but the PB tried to do everything in less than 2 hrs. He dumped the acid...

    New Pool - Orlando Florida

By yesterday evening I lost all the Chlorine again. I've postponed the OCLT as I believe the loss of Chlorine is from low CYA. I've had the Chlorinator running for 4 days but to speed things up I temporarily added some tablets to the skimmer basket. I'm running the pump 24 hrs. per day to...
