    Gizzmo

Hey all, do you have opinions on Gizzmos in the skimmer baskets instead of draining the pool below the skimmer basket? My husband picked these up at the recommendation of a friend to reduce the pressure on the pool cover. I am a little skeptical. What do you think?

    Yet Another Dolphin Thread

I just had top-notch service from Marina. Are you considering the different time zones when you call? Also, the S300i is terrific (after using for one day -- ha!). It even ventured briefly onto the sun shelf.

Just ordered a s300i from Marina. I didn't think to ask if it was a 2018 with the swivel cord -- I guess I will find out when it it delivered tomorrow! Thanks, TFP members for always having the answers to my questions (like what robot to get) when I have them!

    Recent Builder Advice

I learned so much designing my pool from this forum. My takeaway lessons, in no particular order: Test your own water and avail yourself of TFP's tools -- my water is always perfect -- THANK YOU!!! Sun shelf at 12" is too deep -- I'd go 9" or less You don't need step-outs on your perimeter...

My son was in college (Biology) when we got our test kit magnetic stirrer << he was amused. I LOVE the stirrer, personally!

    Opening Pool in MidAtlantic Region

Hi pool afficiandos, We opened our pool (new one year ago) this weekend. PH was out of whack (new plaster), CL was low, but pool held 'er own! TPF is a solid approach. Lost a gasket from the pump, found it in the pool, oops. :-) H

    I bit the dust!

I dunno -- had foot "reconstruction" with bone, tendon and ligaments involved, and the bone pain lingered the longest. As one with bad feet, I do hope you are recovering nicely now.

Text from Neighbor -- They're digging your pool!

What a pretty setup!! The arid landscape is startling to my mid-Atlantic coast sensibilities, but it all seems to work.

    Pool Build - Baltimore

bmore, your landscaping is so darned pretty! I missed this is my pool-soaked buzz last summer. When are you opening your pool? I want to do it now so I can see something other than the cover, lol.

    Tiny Pool?

Why not a swim spa? I'm just curious, because it seems like a good solution in such a northern climate. They are popular here in the mid-Atlantic region.

I popped on the board yesterday to escape all of the football stuff, makes me yearn for summertime. :-) Have you figured out the pool chemistry yet? Its pretty easy with the TFP calculators. All of those kids and a dog makes me think your pool will be well used and well loved. :splash:

    Different Perimeter Freeforms

In my "vast" experience of being a pool owner (>1 year), your decision to build a sunshelf is a good one -- it will be well-used and loved. I have a tall family, and we have <6' depth -- I wish we had gone deeper for the inevitable divers (including my husband). But I love having plenty of...

Experts needed - pool deck level and pitch

I think you won't notice once everything is in place, including landscaping. But that's just my opinion :-) We went to considerable lengths when we bought our 1960's house 20+ years ago to regrade and repave everything away from the house, and we've had no water entering the basement since.

Salt water pool construction in one season pros and cons

Our pool over-wintered as bare concrete half filled with a murky, dark pool of rain water. In Spring, it was cleaned and plastered. We did worry about the dog falling in during that period, and if I had young kids, that would have been a factor, too -- I would have definitely wanted it...
