Jim, Yes, that's what I was trying to say above.

    NEED ADVICE please! Filter issue/replacement

I saw cartridge at 10-15 microns on a few sites. I believe I read that anything below 35 microns is not visible to the human eye. My water chemistry is great so my expectation is that the crystal clear water will continue to be crystal clear water. :-) Also, if you are following TFP...

    NEED ADVICE please! Filter issue/replacement

Also - -while work was being done I had my ozone generator taken out of the system. That annoying bubbling coming from one of the returns is now gone. Still laugh about the fact that I got "sold" on the ozone system when my pool was built. Have learned a lot since then!

    NEED ADVICE please! Filter issue/replacement

Got the Jandy 460 installed. The DE filter had a crack at the very bottom of the tank, which was causing it to leak when under pressure. Was really hard to see, but we finally found it when they removed that one. I'm happy to be rid of dealing with DE. I figure that if I keep my chemistry...

Shout out to Jandy warranty dept.

I have a Jandy TruClear SWG, almost 3 years old. Just under warranty period, it started leaking. Warranty came out yesterday and replaced the cell with no pushback at all. You might say -- "They should replace it. It was under warranty!" I agree, but it seems that lately even when...

    NEED ADVICE please! Filter issue/replacement

Going with a Jandy 460 sq ft cartridge filter, install probably tomorrow. Thanks to everyone here for your input. Will be nice to not have to mess with DE anymore.

    NEED ADVICE please! Filter issue/replacement

Okay, leaning heavily to cartridge filter. Couple more questions: Just confirming.....is it fine for me to go with Hayward even though everything else I have is Jandy (including automation with iAqualink)? And -- for my 20k gallon pool, is there a specific size i need to get? 425 sq ft...

    NEED ADVICE please! Filter issue/replacement

Any of you ever ordered equipment (cartridge filter in this case) online? As I mentioned before, I have a robot connection thanks to TFP.....do i need an equipment connection? Also....I can google this but will ask here as well. I've only had DE filter....it's my only experience. For the...

    NEED ADVICE please! Filter issue/replacement

Wow...these responses are eye opening. Since I am currently plumbed for DE (to the sewer etc as mentioned above), does that complicate the install of a cartridge filter? Also, I use I aqualink.....so do i need to stay with Jandy (assuming they make a cartridge option)? Maybe dumb questions...

    NEED ADVICE please! Filter issue/replacement

I have a Jandy DEV 60 filter. About a month ago I noticed water on my concrete pad around the filter, but couldn't find any moving down the body. Had local pool guy out, he performed a deep clean of the filter (it was time anyway). Once back up to pressure the leak started again. His theory...

Is my "ozone generator" causing pH to rise?

    Okay, thanks. Appreciate the help.

Is my "ozone generator" causing pH to rise?

Yes, working on that now...added acid about 2 hours ago to get pH to 7.0 and start the process. I was just wondering if the ozone generator was a contributing factor and whether anyone had disconnected one and seen results in making pH rise less of an issue.

Is my "ozone generator" causing pH to rise?

TA is 100 as of yesterday.

Is my "ozone generator" causing pH to rise?

Short story -- my pool is about 6-7 years old. When I bought it i was sold a bill of goods and convinced to go the "ozone" route. I was also told that because of the ozone generation, there would be quite a bit of bubbling from one of my returns in the pool (and that turned out to be true). I...

Reminder to check your CYA weekly

CYA and pH test are tough for me....the dot kid of disappears and I've been doing it long enough that I think I'm consistent...with a lot of rain mine has dropped more this year than normal as well. On the pH test, i pretty consistently think the red doesn't match ANY of them! lol

Why doesn't a salt pool require additional salt?

You will require additional salt. We had steady rain for a couple of weeks early this swim season (or just before), and I lost quite a bit of salt from overflow. Had to add two 40 pound bags to get levels back up. I was most likely running a bit below where I want to be (3200) prior to rain...

    SWG costs

The other thing to consider in your calculation is the value of your time. I used LC for years. Pool was great, but it was a royal pain in the Rear constantly having to buy jugs of bleach. Then add in the fact that you run into shortages, or the only bleach available is old. Those prices are...

SWG newbie - will I need 820 lbs of salt?

No. Do NOT assume zero salt. Get your kit, and test first. You will probably be surprised at the salt level that already exists in your pool. When i switched to SWG, I think my salt reading, BEFORE ADDING ANY SALT, was around 1500ppm.

Robot starting to get stuck on drain covers - Maytronics no help

Yes, pretty disappointing that Maytronics rep basically said "can't help you" except to recommend a clip on the drain covers...the problem with those is that my pool is deepest in the center, and only about 5 feet deep, so we walk over the drains all the time...seems that would be really...

Robot starting to get stuck on drain covers - Maytronics no help

I have the Dolphin 300i, and bought it about 1.5 years ago. It's just becoming an issue with it getting stuck on drain covers (i have 4 covers). I called Maytronics and was told they don't have any adapters for and of the robots like mine. They told me to buy drain clips, but when I visited...

After 8 years, deciding what way to sanitize pool in very harsh conditions (AZ)

The easiest system you could implement would be to install a SWG and follow the CYA/FC guidelines on this site. Other numbers as well, but you know what I mean. It's 102 degrees here in TX today. I saw pool guy today because I'm replacing my heater. He told me with our recent thunderstorms...

Outdoor speakers to extend Echo music

I went with the Ultimate Ears Blast...bought two of them so I can pair them with one on patio and one out by pool. They have built in Alexa so I just play our Amazon Music playlists. Got them on amazon, and bought refurb units to save a little. Love them....great sound!

Just realized I've been maintaining wrong FC level for a year!

Ok, glad to see the replies. I'll plan to run it a little high. If that's the general consensus, maybe it should be changed on the chart? Just a thought. Thanks to all!

Just realized I've been maintaining wrong FC level for a year!

About a year ago I switched to SWG...side note -- best decision I ever made! Before that conversion, I had printed out the Chlorine / CYA chart from this site, laminated it, and kept in my test kit....I just cut out the portion that covers NON SWG pools and used that part ( because I had a non...

Outdoor speakers to extend Echo music

Ultimate Ears may be best bet...I was hoping for more in the way of responses and that I was missing something. Can't believe Amazon hasn't developed an outdoor option for Alexa.

Outdoor speakers to extend Echo music

I'm worried about a second echo on the outside location because they are not weatherproof. The outside speakers won't have any protection from the elements.

Outdoor speakers to extend Echo music

I've searched and searched but for some reason I'm not having luck finding what I thought would be simple. Currently, we have an Amazon Echo out on covered back porch. We stream Amazon Music and playlists we have created, and it's awesome if you are on the porch. However, when you are in the...
