    Need advice

The pressure gauge on top of the cartridge filter - at 1,000 rpm it reads 0, but there is plenty of water movement in the pool for the 17 hours or so it is on that setting (equates to about 30 gph). And there is plenty of movement in the pool (from the returns). At 0 psi - if I open the bleeder...

    Need advice

ok.... Found something else out today.... I run my intelliflo XF mainly at 1,000 rpm. I popped open the filter gauge (just because I was near it) and no water comes out. I read 0 on the guage also. I have water coming out of the returns ( enough to feel it with your hand).....but not enough to...

Sun Shelf and Bubblers to Prevent Algae

I am curious if the shallow water depth, lack of circulation in that area could lower FC. In other words could the intense sunlight I get (no shade - South Florida) "eat up" the chlorine on the shelf and produce algae in that area?

Sun Shelf and Bubblers to Prevent Algae

I have a 8' x 15' sun shelf that maintains around 6-8" of water. There is a significant difference of temperature of the water (it runs about 5-8 degrees hotter). I have one return on the shelf that moves water, but when I run my pump at 1000 rpm (which is approx. 18 hours a day) - I am not...

Maintaining a Constant - or the attempt to......

So I have been maintaining FC at about 10 and a CYA around 70. I am just scared to lower FC due to earlier episodes of algae. The pool currently is crystal clear..... I will be maintaing TA at 50 and only dose Ph when it is around 7.8 - 8.0....then I will drop it down to around 7.6 Pool is...

Maintaining a Constant - or the attempt to......

There is 1 return on the sun shelf that moves the water in that area. I also have 2 bubblers that do get run often ( i know the water features are part of the pH problem). But i adjust my dosages for their use.

Maintaining a Constant - or the attempt to......

Circulation is good in pool. I have 5 returns and when the wind is blowing I literally have a pile of dirt sitting in one neat pile by the sitting area. in the sitting area there is a return and there is also 6 spa jets. I cycle the pool as such: 8 am - 8 am 80% Returns and 20% Spa jets at...

Maintaining a Constant - or the attempt to......

About a month ago, I decided to change it up after researching. First off I know any additives are taboo here - but I added a product called Algaetec (34 oz). This stuff works great - it has no metals - bromides - or quats. Also has a clarifier in it. After 24 Hours, Pool looked the best it has...

Maintaining a Constant - or the attempt to......

So.........to give a little background - Pool had water go in it for the 1st time on Memorial Day last year. I live in South Florida, so pool temps are typically mid to high 80's already. Last year in Aug through October I remember some 90's....(i do have a heat pump/chiller to help keep it in...

    Ongoing Algae Battle

I think tomorrow I am going to do a manual brush/vacuum and discharge the water (one, to get rid of any algae without going into filter - and two - lower my water level so I can SLAM at a lower level CYA/Chlorine.

    Ongoing Algae Battle

Thank you for the replies.....I guess I need to crank the heater up and get in there!!!!! I do have 2 5G lights with niches - so i will remove those and clean. The water features are run an hour at a time to let the "SLAM" levels get through them. And I will bring my CYA down by dumping some...

    Ongoing Algae Battle

So - the pool is going into its 8th month of water in it. I had a issue in August - where of course, we went on vacation....pump stopped running for some reason.....and ALGAE. I did a SLAM when we got back and all was good for a couple of months. I guess between monsoon rains and water fills, I...

Hiring a pool builder vs contracting subs

@kimkats @jorge18 @gnr5 Ok.....Owner builder pool building lessons in life.................... If you think it is easy - you are wrong. If you think you are going to save A TON of money.............you are wrong. What it does afford you is complete control of what happens. Not just colors or...

Wiring landscape lighting into Intellicenter Panel

Something to consider.........I did this with mine - I have 4 pentair uplights on a dedicated transformer (or as bdavis stated - jump to your pool lights and use a new relay). This way you can highlight certain trees with the uplighting and they will be the same color as your pool. Then a...

    Fill water filter

My city water is hitting 8 (or could be above) on a Taylor test kit............... everything else is in check. Couple of questions - 1- I need to put a pre filter on the fill line side of my plumbing. Not for the pool water but for the ice maker that also gets supplied by the water. 2 - Is...

    Check valve spring

Ok - @bdavis466 the orientation is horizontal. So hopefully it will close when needed. As of right now I dont see the clapper move until about 2000 rpm. Trial and error I guess - thanks brother!

    Check valve spring

@bdavis466 Question: I thought I saw something about removing the spring from a check valve. I have a pentair check valve hooked up to my heater plumbing. At this moment I have to run my XF pump at 2000 rpm in order for me to have the check valve open AND be able to still produce chlorine via...
