Sun Shelf and Bubblers to Prevent Algae

I have a 8' x 15' sun shelf that maintains around 6-8" of water. There is a significant difference of temperature of the water (it runs about 5-8 degrees hotter). I have one return on the shelf that moves water, but when I run my pump at 1000 rpm (which is approx. 18 hours a day) - I am not sure there is enough water movement. So my question is if I run my 2 bubblers also - will that help water movement? At 1000 rpm the bubblers just barely create a ripple in the water. Am I correct in saying that the low volume will NOT raise the pH but move water creating temperature decrease?

Besides, the little ripple it creates makes my Pebble Tec Clearwater look sooooo much better!!!!!!

Open for input! Thanks

The ripple on the water surface from the bubblers will raise your pH. How much? Unknown.

Have you considered programming them to come on for 15 minutes or so twice a day at a higher rate to really flush that area?

J&V,

I see nothing wrong with your plan, but as long as you have some circulation, and you keep your FC at your target, I would not think the depth would make any difference in whether you get algae or not..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I am curious if the shallow water depth, lack of circulation in that area could lower FC. In other words could the intense sunlight I get (no shade - South Florida) "eat up" the chlorine on the shelf and produce algae in that area?
